Continued from page 16my wife and I watched a CBC Lifeand Times T.V. show about the greatCanadian piano player and singer Sarah McLachlan. Lore and I watched as the program gave a history of how Sarah became successful in the music industry. She became very popular and wealthy from her singing. But just when her career peaked, Sarah McLachlan left the stage and lived privately in a small house on several acres of beautifully tree-filled land. As she took walks on what looked like a beautiful park like area on her property she told the interviewer that she left the music industry for a slower pace and to spend time with her first child. Sarah herself admitted that many people thought she was crazy to leave the music industry when she was earning the most amount of money and the most popularity. But Sarah said sometimes in your life you have to make difficult choices for the benefit of your health and your family. As she walked peacefully along a trail on her property with her dog shesays it was the best thing she everdid. Even though she never said itthis way, it seemed to me that Sarah had experienced what I would call an epiphany moment in her life. She had found an inner peace and wanted to appreciate that peaceful presence of the creator in her life. Perhaps you are hoping for an epiphany in your life in the coming year. You want God to show you the way. You want to be led by God’s light. Like the wise men who were willing to travel a great distance, you too have to be willing to travel from your current existence. The way may be risky and it will likely require great patience. Nevertheless, your journey can culminate in a time of great joy. At the end of their journey the wise men brought gold, frankincense and myrrh. They paid homage, not only through their quest to discover the newborn king, but by giving their best. I believe that God also wants us to give our best. Someone once said, “I have learned that the only thing I can take with me from this world isthe summation of what I have givenaway.”My hope and prayer for all of us this year is that 2012 will not be seen “as the end of the world” year which many are talking about but that we may see ourselves as being led by the light of God. May it be a year where we are willing to travel great distances and risk being adventurous. May it also be a year when we live with more patience. And finally, may it be a year where we are led by the light of God and be persons who give their very best. “I am the light of the world says the Lord. Those who follow me will not walk in darkness but have the light of life.” Pastor says follow your heart Caught!
