Glen Wuerth is holidaying at the home of Mr. and Mrs. S. S. Wuerth. Mrs. Annie Haist, of Detroit, attended the funeral of her sis ter the late Mrs. Mary Roeszler. Miss Sibyl Hoskings, of ronto, spent the week-end her sister, Mrs. Kerr. Late Mrs. Mary Roeszler Mrs. Mary Roeszler, a long resident of Crediton, visited last week Lamport. Mrs. Barnes and Dunnville, spent a sis- and De To- with life died in St. Joseph’s Hospital on Mon day, August 2, in her seventy ninth year. The former Mary Wilhelm, she was the widow of the late Charles Roeszler, who predeceas ed her ten years ago. Mrs. Roeszler had been in poor health for several months and, became suddenly worse on SaA turday niglit when she was rush ed to the hospital, where an operation was performed but she passed away on Monday morn ing. She is survived by two sisters —Mrs. Annie Haist, of Detroit, and Mrs. Lena Cook, of Camla- chie, the latter having cared for her during her illness. The funeral was held on Wed nesday from the R. C. Dinney Funeral Home in Exeter and was conducted by her pastor, Rev. J. V. Dahius. Interment was in Crediton Cemetery. Harris in Exeter on Saturday afternoon, it being the occasion pf Mrs. Monteith’s ninetieth birthday. Mr. and Mrs. Aimer spent last week on trip to Muskoka .and Monday of this week. Several from this community attended the Old Boys’ reunion at Winchelsea School Monday of this week. On Sunday, August 8 there will be no Sunday School or Church service in t*he Thames Road 'Church. Mission Band Picnic The Mission Band, under the leadership of Misses Jean Cann and Dolores Allison, were en tertained . to .a social on the Church lawn on Tuesday after noon of this week. A short pro gram preceded the social con sisting of, reading by Barbara Allison, song by Rosemary Pass- more, reading by Barry Jeffery, story by Dolores Allison and a hymn. Sports were then enjoyed on the lawn with results as follows, races: girls, 5-6, Ruth Allen; 9-10, Marion Lamport; 11 and over, Lexie Lostel; boys 7-8, Wayne Rowe; 9-10, Barry i Miller; 11 and over, Earl Hun ter; girls paper bag race, bara Allison; boys paper race, Bobby Miller. Mrs, Violet Baker, of Exeter, spent the week-end with sister, Mrs, Lewis Fletcher Monday they attended the eral of their sister, Mrs, L. len, of Kitchener, formerly of St, Marys, at the Ross Marriott funeral home. Mr. and Mrs. Roger .Christie spent the week-end in Detroit. Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Burgin and daughter Marian, of Lon don, spent the holiday with Mr. and Mrs. G. H. Burgin. Some of the farmers in this district have finished cutting their grain July 27 and the hum of the threshing machine can be heard. Presentation A very pleasant spent in Aberdeen evening, July 27 bors and friends Mrs. A. T. Wiseman met to hon or them and also to welcome Mrs. Wiseman to our village. Dr, G. H. Jose acted as chair man and a short local program followed. A sing song was led by Gr^ce Collier with Mrs. H. Davis at the piano. At the close of the program Mr. and Mrs. Wiseman were presented with a living room mirror and a tri light floor lamp. They both fittingly replied.
