The business was discussed and the guest speaker, Mr. Edgar Cud- more, was introduced by the president. Mr. Cudmore spoke on the turnip crop in general and. left much valuable informa­ tion for the members of the duh. It was decided to form a turnip club and enter the turn­ ip competition in the county. The committee in charge of this project is Howard Pym. Bill Rowcliffe. Russel Ferguson and Bruce Slmpton. The details concerning the ‘At Home Dance’ to be held May 14 were made known to the club. Joint Meeting The joint meeting opened with “0 Canada” followed by a sing song. Velma Ferguson gave a humorous reading and the guest speaker, Murray Roy, of Clinton, was introduced by Ed- 1 win Miller. Murray gave a very interesting talk on his Chicago I trip. Mr. Grant Sanders, of Leonia, N.J., visited in town last week at the home of his father, Mr. S. M. Sanders. Mr. Robt. Tinney, who has not b^en well for some time, was admitted to St. Joseph's Hospital last week. Mr. and Mrs. Earl Treffry, of Chiselhurst, attended the Sun­ day School anniversary service on Sunday and visited with Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Pybus. Colelough, of Wood- stock, visited at the home of his brother-in-law and sister, Mr. and Mrs. Robt. Tinney, Hay Twp., over the week-end. Dr. and Mrs. R. O. Hodgson, of Saskatoon, visited on Wednes­ day of last week with Mr. and Mrs. W. H, Hodgson and with his brother, Mr. Chester Hodg­ son. Mr. and Mrs, Roy Love and family, of Shipka, attended the Sunday School anniversary :at James Street Sunday morning and were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Taylor. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Sweitzer and son Brian, of Timmins, have moved to Exetei' and will occupy one of the apartments at the home of his parents, Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Sweitzer, We wel­ come them to our midst. Seeding has started in this community but so far it is not general. Frequent rains have de­ layed the farmers getting on the soil. Quite a lot of grain was sown Monday but operations were suspended Tuesday on ac­ count of wet weather. Sunday visitors at the home of Mr. and Mrs. John Caldwell Exeter North, were Mr, and Mrs. Edgar Rundle and family, of London, Mr. and Mrs. Alonzo Ford, of London, and Mr. and Mrs. Jack Essery and family, of Centralia. Mr. Jas. Smith last week re­ turned to this community after spending a year at his home in Scotland. He was accompanied to Canada by his sister, Miss Susan Smith and a friend, -Miss' Jean .Wilson. They expect to make their home in Canada and last week visited with Mr. and Mrs. A. Rundle and other friends in the district. , Visiting Exeter Mrs. Lottie M. Belaugei\ of Phoenix, Aris., after visiting her brother Jack in Alex, Alta., for a few weeks, arrived here in, Exeter to visit her aunt, Mrs. M. Amy. Mrs. Belanger’s former name was Lottie Walper and was born in Exeter North. After many years absence from here sees many changes in our town and would like to meet her former friends. III in Hospital Miss Helen Monteith is ill in St. Joseph’s Hospital. Her many friends hope for a speedy recov­ ery. The Huronia Male Chorus are booked for an entertainment at Centralia on Friday evening, April 30tli under the auspices of the Neodult Club. RObt. They had election of officers after which Mr. Mair gave a very interesting talk on “Ad­ journing Faith”. Games were played followed by lunch at the close.
