MacLaren. Miss. Roberta Kirby spent sever­ al days last week witlr relatives and friends in Windsor. Mr. and Mrs. Neeb, of Tavistock visited last .week with their son- in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brown. They were accompan­ ied home by Billie and Carol Brown, who will spend the Christ­ mas holidays there. Miss Barbara Michie is spending the Christmas holidays at the home of her parents, Mr. and Mrs. James Michie at Brussels. GRAND BEND Mr. Solomon Pollach, who fered a severe fall about three weeks ago was taken to the hospi­ tal on Saturday morning where X- ray showed that he was suffering from a fracture of the hip bone. Mrs. Annie Breitner had the misfortune ito slip on the stairs in her home one evening last week and suffered a compound fracture of her ankle. She was removed to a hospital in London by ambulance. Services in the United Church on Christmas Sunday were especially inspiring. The children of the junior de­ partment of the Sunday School heard and saw a flannelgram ver­ sion of the Christmas Story dur­ ing the Sunday School hour. At the morning service of worship, /the choir rendered two fine anth­ ems, “Sing for Joy" and “Jesus is His Name". Mrs. Ross Love sang a solo. Mr. Wood, the min­ ister, preached inspiring and thought provoking sermons at both morning and evening services. South End Service Station WINCHELSEA Quite a number of this commu­ nity attended the school Christ­ mas Concert at Elimville church on Thursday night. Much credit is given to Mr. Wein and also the teacher, Mr. Mrs. Fred spent a few week. Mr. visited is in treatment and who is improving slowly. Mr. and Mrs. Alf Collier and; Grace, of Kirkton, visited on Sun­ day with Mr. and Mrs. II. Bailey. Mr. and Mrs. Harry Bailey cele­ brated their 59 th wedding anniver­ sary on Tuesday, December 23rd. Those present were Mr. and Mrs: Joseph Bailey and’family, Mr. and Mrs. George Bailey, Mr. and A. Collier and Grace. ELIMVILLE Jim Sinclair, of London, is spending Xmas holidays at the home of his mother and family, Mrs. Jackson Woods. Mr. and Mrs. Henry Price, of Detroit, spent last week-end with the latter’s mother, Mrs. Thomas Bell. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Kirkland, of Thames Road, visited on Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Sam Pym. The Sunday evening service in the church here was a Candle Light Service with Rev. Mair as speaker. Christmas carols were sung. New Lucan Waterworks Lucan’s new water system, a $100,000 project, was put into operation Thursday of last week when Reeve Harold Colbert, turn­ ed on the main valve of the 10,- 0 00 ft. pipe line leading into the town from about two miles i’ south-west. The water is pumped at the rate of 130 gallons per min­ ute against 90 pounds pressure. CREDITON EAST Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Wein and Mr. and Mrs. Harry Lewis spent Friday in London. Mrs, Wm. Hertherley and daugh­ ter, Mrs. Harold Gillies and son, John, of London, visited Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. R. Motz and Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Motz. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Anderson, of Ajax, are spending the Christinas and New Years holidays with his father, Mr. Charles Anderson. Mrs. Racheal Sims, of Exeter, is visiting at the home wof Mr. and Mrs. Murray Neil.
