Wscellaneous Shower
Mrs. Geo. Ingram was hostess at.
her home on Friday evening for a
miscellaneous shower in honor of
Miss Delphine Jackson, bride-elect,
of this week. An interesting pro
gram was followed by the presen
tation of many beautiful and useful
gifts. The bride made a fitting reply
thanking everyone for the gifts
Refreshments were served.
Evening Auxiliary
The first fall meeting of the Eve
ning Auxiliary which took, the form
of a pot-luck supper, was- held in
the United Church schoolroom on
Monday night, Sept. Sth, with a
splendid attendance of members
and guests. After a delicious meal,

were read and collection taken. The
next item was the roll call, “How
I Can Serve My Church.” During
the business session, the president
stressed the sectional meeting
which is scheduled to take place
at Crediton on Wednesday, October
15th, consisting of morning and af
ternoon sessions. Two auxiliary
members, Mrs. W. Tlones and Miss
Gladys Luker were appointed to be
responsible for the scripture read
ing, prayer and commentary on the
theme during the afternoon ses
sion. Further plans were made re
the annual fall bazaar which will
be held in November. -The secretary
was instructed to forward order
for cards at once These will be dis
tributed for sale among the mem
bers. The October meeting .will be
held at the home of Mrs. G. Brod
erick with Mrs. J. Corbett assist
ing. The social committee, Mrs.
Broderick, Mrs. Corbett, Mrs. San
ders and Mrs. Jones. Hymn, “Who
is on the Lord’s Side,” was sung.
Mrs. J. Flynn ably conducted the
devotional period and based her re
marks on the scripture lesson, John
13, verses 1 to 17, after- which
Prayer was repeated by Miss Ellis.
Rev. R. A. Brook then delivered am
inspiring message. The hymn “Take
My Life and Let It Be” and the
Mizpah Benediction concluded the
meeting. Mrs. Kyle and Mrs. Hyde
were in charge of the recreation.
