Miss Helen Moir, of Oakwood, spent the week-end with her sis­ ter and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence Baynham. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Simpson, of Detroit, spent the week-end with the former’s mother, Mrs. L. Simp­ son. Mr. Harry Lawrence, of the staff of the Bank of Montreal, is on va­ cation. Mr. and Mrs. W. B. Cross spent the week-end with friends at Ches* ley. Rev. P. A. Ferguson conducted the. Sacrament of Baptism in Car­ mel Presbyterian Church on Sun­ day when the children of Mr. and Mrs. A. Scholl and Mr. and Mrs. W. Dalrymple were baptized. Mrs. C. Kennedy and Mrs. H. C. Bell sang a duett entitled, “In the Shadow of the Cross." Rev. Mc­ Connell will have charge of the services in Carmel Presbyterian church for the remainder of the month. Auxiliary Picnic Over thirty members and guests attended the Arnold Circle Evening Auxiliary picnic held at Lions Park, Seaforth, on Wednesday evening. Following a delicious picnic supper the following sports were directed by Mrs. A. Orr, Mrs. Roy Bell and Mrs. Hay: boys, Donald MaeLaren; girls,, Jean Kennedy; kick the slip­ per, Mfs. Kozachuek: slipper race, Mrs. G. Bell; paper race, Mrs. R. MaeLaren; hopping race, Mrs. Southey; whistle race, Mrs. G. Schwalm; three-legged race, Mrs. Geo, Moir, Mrs. Hi. MaeLaren; run­ ning backwards, Mrs. C. Forrest, Mrs, J. Farquhar; bottle race, Mrs. G. Mousseau, Mrs, A. W. Kerslake. Donaldson*Saundercoek Rev. R. A. Brook officiated at the marriage of Marcella June Saundercock and Radford Willard Donaldson in a lovely garden cere­ mony on Saturday at the home of the bride’s mother, Mrs. A. Saun­ dercock, Hensail. The groom's par­ ents are Mr. and Mrs. D. 'Roy Don­ aldson, of London. Miss Gladys Luker played the wedding music and Mrs. W. A. MaeLaren, of God­ erich, sang “O Promise Me” and “At Dawn’’. Given in marriage by her brother, George Saundercock, of Windsor, the bride chose a pretty long gown of white slipper satin with bustle back and sweet­ heart neckline with finger-tip veil caught in a sweetheart halo. Her bouquet was red roses. Mrs. G. Smith, as her sister’s bridesmaid, wore a blue silk jersey gown with blue het headdress and bouquet of yellow roses. Little Georgina Don­ aldson, of London, was flower girl in a yellow taffeta frock trimmed in blue with a tiny yellow halo and a nosegay of flowers. Al. Pearce, of Toronto, was best man. Fox1 the reception following, Mrs. Saunder­ cock received wearing navy blue and white ensemble with black ac­ cessories and corsage of red roses. Mrs. Donaldson wore printed mauve crepe with white accessories and corsage of roses. Later Mr. and Mrs. Radford Donaldson left to spend their honeymoon in Toronto and points east. The bride wore a navy marquisette frock for travelling with navy accessories and lighter blue shortie coat. They will reside on Wellington (Street, London. CROMARTY The present splendid weather is aiding the farmers considerably. Harvesting of wheat and hay is in full swing. Rev. MacWilliams will be on his holidays during the next week. Rev. Daynard, of the Staffa circuit, will occupy the pulpit in his absence. A great many visitors are pass­ ing through the country at present, enjoying the sight of ripening DASHWOOD Mr. Thos. Mrs. Jack Hoffman, of Port Colhoxne, is visiting with her sister Mr. and Mrs. Sid Baker. < Mr. and Mrs. Melville Guenther, Barbara and Carl, of Garry, India­ na, spent their vacation with rela­ tives here .and in Exeter. Mr. and Mrs. M. McGrenere have returned to their home in London after spending their vacation here. Eckstein and Miss Lily Hoffman, of London, spent a few days with Mr, and Mrs. T. Harry Hoffman. Miss Helen .Nadiger is visiting with friends in Hanover. Mrs. I. Tieman and son, of Kit­ chener, are spending their holidays with Mrs. Mary Tiernan. Mr. and Mrs, Harold Kellerman spent the week-end in Hanover, Mrs. Kellerman and son, John, will remain for a few weeks’ vacation. Mr. and Mrs. C. Routledge and family, of Ingersoll, visited last week with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Fassold. Several exciting ball games are taking place here this week. McFalls, of Exeter, ar­ rived home on Sunday last after visiting for a couple of weeks with hei’ sister, Mrs. Wilbert King, near Forest, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Davis and family, Messrs. Don Smithers and Ernest Wood, of London, spent the holiday week-end with Mr. Henry Dearing. Mrs. M. McAvoy had the misfor­ tune to fall down the cellar steps on Thursday last and although no bones were broken she sustained a badly bruised hip. Mr. and .Mrs. Cecil Neff, of Cal­ gary, Alta., spent Sunday visiting with their uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Coates, leaving Tuesday for a motor trip to Niagara. Miss Jessie Gillespie, former resident of Cromarty, is visiting with friends in the vicinity. It has been some time since she was in this community. Mr. and Mrs. Jas. (Scott, Jr., have returned after a pleasant visit in New York State and Pennsylvania. They enjoyed their trip very much. Miss Grace (Chalmers is at pres­ ent at home after her rest treat­ ment in the hospital. Mr. Jas. Scott is improving slow­ ly. Cromarty Sunday School held their picnic in the Lions Park in Seaforth on Monday. Miss Helen Herdman is spending a few days with her grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Henry Delbridge, of Exeter. Quite a number from this com­ munity were at Turnbull’s Grove on Sunday. Miss Hazel Sparling is spending a few days with Mrs. Rumble, of Thorndale. Mrs. Ray Kirk, of Woodham, vis­ ited last Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Melville Skinner. Miss Patsy Kerslake, of Exeter, is spending a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Kerslake. The Eliniville Young People held their picnic at Grand Bend on Thursday evening, fiuppei' was serv­ ed at 5:30 with a fair crowd at­ tending. Mr. and Mrs. 'George Hurd and Ted, of Toronto, and their grand­ daughter, Carol Wright, of Orillia, spent the week-end with their daughter and family, Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bell, Mr. Janies Sinclair, of London, spent the week-end with Mr, and Mrs. Jackson Woods. Mr. Murray Stephen spent last week with five school chums on a. motor trip to Ottawa, Montreal, Lake Placid and New York, return­ ing by Niagara Falls. Mr. and Mrs. Samuel Hannah, of Seaforth, visited on Saturday with Mrs. Thos. Bell. A showei’ was held in the church basement on Friday evening "for Mrs. 'Robert Lynett (nee 'Grace Brock). Miss Gladys Batten escort­ ed Grace to a beautifully decorated chair and Mrs. Harold Kerslake- read the address and presented Grace with a purse of money. The evening was spent with a song by Mrs. Harold Bell. Mrs. Ross Skinner, Ethelene and Eilene Johns; Ruth Skinnei’ gave a reading and Miss Gladys Batten gave a contest. Lunch was served at the close. We are glad to report Mrs. Garnet Miners is feeling better and has returned home from the hospital.
