The pro­ gram committee for the October meeting Hallowe’en night are the executive members. Proceeds of the 8th Line community group .for the winter term amounted to over $100. Last year 232,426 tons of beets were* grown and harvested despite farmers fears of labour shortage. Prospects for more skilled labour are good. Leslie Locke, son of Mr. and Mrs. George Locke, Grand Falls, New­ foundland. Rev. W. Heiinrich officiated, Miss Pauline Uttley played the wedding music. Given in marriage by her father, the bride was loveiy in a floor-length gown of' white chiffon with finger-tip veil. Hey only ornament was a gold watch, worn on a white satin rib­ bon, gift of the groom’s mother. Her bridal bouquet was red roses, snapdragons and fern. The bride was attended by her sister, Miss Margaret Schilbe, who wore a light blue gown and carried pink roses, snapdragons and fern, Chester Dawe was best man and the ushers, Laird and Earl 'Schilbe, brothers of the bride. The couple left for a wedding trip to Niagara IF/alls. AIRMEN SPARED “CLOSE SHAVE” WITH HEAVY-DUTY HORSE SHEARS Ail* force personnel at Centralia were saved “a close shave” as a result of an incident in a Goderich store. Spotting a pair of clippers in the store, a man hurriedly picked them up. With obvious delight he ex­ plained to the clerk that he had been searching for a pair of clip­ pers that his son-in-law needed in his barber shop at Centralia. Anx­ ious to pay whatever they might cost, he reached for his pocket book. “I’m sorry, sir,” explained the clerk, “these clippers are heavy duty animal clippers, principally for shearing horses and are not for humans.” He’s still looking for’ the clip­ pers.
