Mr. Dew had been ailing for some time but was con­ fined to his bed only about a week. Deceased at one time was a mem­ ber of the Usborne Municipal Coun­ cil. He served as warden of the Trivitt Memorial church and for years was a director and active •member of the Exeter Fair Board. Surviving are his wife whose maid­ en name was Susan Mitchell and one sister, Mrs, Phillip Ryckman, of Moose Jaw, Sask. 'One brother, Evan Dew, passed away in 1945. The funeral, private, held from the Hopper-Hockey eral chapel Friday afternoon ducted by Rev. M, A. Hunt, bearers were Messrs. Wm. Jeffery, Mose Beckler, Clarence Down, Clif­ ford Moir, Gordon Oke and Edgar Cudmore, Interment was in the Exeter cemetery. Among those from ■a distance who attended the fun­ eral were Mrs. Blanche Hill, Mr. Hewson Hill and Mr, Vai Hill, of Detroit; Mrs. Mildred Rutherford, of Toronto; Miss Labelle Sims, of London; Mr, and Mrs. Thos. Davis, of town, receiv­ ed word Wednesday of last week of the death of her daughter, Mrs. Hugh O’Connor of Detroit. O’Connor was 59 years of age had been ailing for about months. Besides her husband mother she is survived by two and one daughter. Mrs. O’Connor and her two sons visited in Exeter just before Christmas. Interment took place in Detroit Saturday. Andrew at the iSunday Huron Old Boys’ Bridge • The Huron Old Boys Association of Toronto will hold a Bridge and Euchre at the Heliconian Club, 35 Hazelton Avenue, on Friday, March 21st. There will be the usual special prizes ifor the winners. A new feat­ ure will be a competition to declare the best pair of euchre players in the Association. A trophy has been donated to (be called the M'cLaren Memorial Trophy to honor the memory of the late J. A. McLaren. Two men, two ladies or a mixed pair may win the cup which will be ■competed for annually. Entrants must come from the same, section Of Huron County. Entries will 'be accepted at the time of the com­ petition. Refreshments will be served and all Huronites will be welcome. Former Resident Dies Miss Elizabeth Ann Frayne, resident of Exeter for many years, died suddenly at her home, 15 6 Oxford street, London, on Tuesday. •She was born in Exeter, a daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Robert Frayne and resided with 'her par­ ents on Andrew street. She was the last survivoi’ of a family of nine children. A number of nieces and nephews in this locality survive. Deceased while in Exeter was a member of the James St. United church and has been connected with Colfoorne Street United church in London. The remains are 'being brought to Exetei’ for interment in the family plot Thursday afternoon, •Rev. Dr. A. Alvah Gower, formerly Ednq, Johns, of Exeter, now of St. Catharines, died at her home March 14th following a lengthy illness Surviving are her ihusbandA one son Lorne, and two daughters, Mirs.
