Ninety of the -pris­ oners arrived last week and we derstand more are to follow.' Day Alliance The Lord’s Day Alliance is rep­ resented in our community this year by Rev. W. A. and Mrs. Finlay. This organization is recognized widely as one performing valuable national and community service in safeguarding the national weekly day of rest for Canadiaji workers, and the freedom of our Canadian Sunday from commercial exploita­ tion. The opportunities for Christ­ ian worship and spiritual culture are likewise important, but these are questions for individual decision ana attitude. In any event the leis­ ure and quiet of this one day of the week are of real value, individually and collectively. un­ An Old Coin last Ed. An old coin was picked up week in the orchard of Mr, Westcott, of Usborne township. It is a half penny of the Bank of Up­ per Canada and bears the date 1854. The penny is .very light in weight and has a hole in it. Americans Seek Rations Mr. C. V. Pickard, rations officer, I reports that there has been an in- creased demand for rations by Am­ erican tourists at this season of the year. He believes it is partly due to the strikes across the border with Americans taking their days while out of work.
