Mrs. Albert Morlock’s many friends are sorry to learn that she was taken - to -S,t. Joseph’s Hospital on Saturday and wishes are expres­ sed for a speedy improvement. Mrs. Bluett was a resident of Crediton several years ago during the many years Mr. Bluett was Principal of our Public School. • The Minstrel Show sponsored by the Zurich Lions Club in the Town Hall on Friday evening was a de­ cided success and was thoroughly enjoyed by all in attendance. Mission Band Meeting The Evangelical Mission held their April meeting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wesiey Wein on Tuesday evening. The meeting opened by quiet music by Ronald Wein. The call to worship was given by Claire Swartz followed by the hymn, “Jesus 'Loves Even Me.” Prayer was given by Mrs. Ross Krueger. The Scripture was read by Harvey Ratz. Mrs. Roy Morlock presented a reading on “Steward­ ship” and the hymn “Wonderful Words of Life.” The Study Book was given by. Mrs. Ross Krueger. This was followed- by the minutes and roll call.- It^ was decided that the Mission Band will hold a bak­ ing sale. Mr. Lloyd Hodgson his position at the continuous service of four years. He has purchased the Insurance Agency of Mr. John Essery and will engage in general insurance busi­ ness, automobile, fire, casualty and North American. Life Assurance, Mr. John Essery, Centralia’s old­ est and highly esteemed resident, has been confined to his bed for the past week and is in a serious condition. A shadow of gloom was cast over this community on Monday when it was learned that Rev. R. N. Stewart, a former pastor of this church, had passed away in the Pembroke hospital. Mr. and Mrs, Stewart made many staunch friends during their pastorate here and our deepest sympathy is extended to Mrs. Stewart and Lorraine in their sorrow. All members of the choir are re­ minded of practise in the church on Sunday evening following the church service. This is in prepara­ tion for the anniversary and a good attendance is requested. The Alert Mission Band will meet in the schoolroom of the church on Sunday morning, May 5th. No­ tice the change of date from the second Sunday to the first Sunday for this meeting. Mr. and Mrs. J. Mr. Fletcher, of St. Marys, spent the week-end with Mr. Harvey ■Sparling. Next Sunday the service will be held in the evening. On Mother’s Day the service will be in the morn­ ing. Mi’. E. Whiteford and family have vacated their property here which they sold to Mr. Vaughan, of Owen Sound. We understand Mr, Whiteford will be living in Inger­ soll. The new owner is expected to take possession this week. Rc-Opening Service Last Sunday re-opening services of this church were held in the morning. Rev. Mair preached very acceptably taking as his text “I was glad when they said unto me, ‘Let us go into the luouse of the Lord’.” The choir, by coincidence, also sang an anthem with the same text. Mrs. John Hodgert, of Exeter, sang “The Stranger of Galilee.” Mr. Ken­ neth Johns also sang “Bless This House.’ A beautiful basket of flow­ ers were placed in the church by the Women’s Association in mem­ ory of all deceased members. The church has been very beautifully painted both auditorium and base­ ment in lovely pastel shades. The outside woodwork has also been painted in cream and brown. A new cement platform has been laid out* side the doors. Altogether the work is a credit to all concerned.
