Exeter South James St. Evening Auxiliary James Street Evening Auxiliary held their regular meeting at the home of Mrs. A. Irwin. The presi­ dent, Miss Stella Southcott took charge of the opening. The meet­ ing opened with a hymn followed by all repeating the Lord’s Prayer, Reports from the treasurer, ' cor­ responding secretary and Red Coss treasurer were then given also a temperance report by Mrs- Irwin. Margaret Wein, as group leader called on Nellie Carmichael for the meditation, then a song by the group, ‘Lord I want to be a Christ­ ian’ was sung. KThe study book was taken by Margaret Wein, Elsie Hodgson, Mildred Creech and Verna Coates. Reta Rowe gave the story of Dr. Mary Cushman. Muriel Wil- smith favored with an instrumental wjjich was very much appreciated. Ellerington left Sun­ day on a motor trip to Florida, They' will be gone for a few weeks Wilfred Hunkin, of Usborne, un­ derwent an operation in (St. Joseph’s Hospital, London, on Wednesday. His many friends will hope for a speedy recovery. Douglas Brintnell, who has been with the Canadian navy, has ar­ rived -home from Halifax and will be on leave for two weeks before receiving his discharge. . Mr. and Mrs. Harold Whyte last week received, a long-distance call from their son Jim who is with the Canadian navy and was in port at Victoria, B.C. Mr. and Mrs. John Luxton re­ ceived a telegram from their son Fred, stating he arrived safely in Halifax on the Aquitania and would be Mr. W. Talbot St. has been of College of Organists. Mr. L. C. Mangus in Victoria Hospital the past five weeks to the home, of his sister Mrs. Wm. Sweitzer and is much improved. Mr. and Mrs. R. M. Long, of De­ troit, and Reg. Wuerth, of London spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. A. E. Wuerth and Reynold, who is just home from overseas.’ Mr. F. Whilsmith, an employee with Cunningham and Pryde, un­ derwent an operation in St. Jos­ eph’s Hospital last week and is im­ proving nicely. He is expected home at any time. <. Mr. and M-rs. Wm. -Sweitzer to­ gether with their family, Mr. Wray Sweitzer, Mrs. Glen Brenner and Mrs. George Clark attended the funeral of Mrs. Sweitzer’s nephew- Mr. E. Moore in Sarnia on Friday. Mr. Gerald Smith, who for the past number of years has been a barber at Crediton, has entered into partnership with Mr. Garnet Flynn. Gerald learned his trade in Michi­ gan and worked in Toronto and has had over -ten years experience Pte. R. J. A. Webber, son of Mr Fred Webber, of Pathlow, Sask., is visiting with his uncles and aunts and -other relatives In this community for a couple of weeks. Pte. Webber has just arrived home from -overseas and is visiting here before returning to his home. IL.Cpl. Les. Thomas, who recently arrived in Ganada on the lie de France, is visiting at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Melvin King, of Stephen. Les. was a member of the Elgin regiment and was in the ser­ vice for five years and eight months. He came to Canada from Wales and before his enlistment was employed by Mr. King.
