'She was formerly Alice Drover and was possessed of a 'kind and sym­ pathetic manner. Surviving are her husband, One son, Ray, of St. Marys, two daughters, ;Mrs. Robt. Elgie (Beryl), Kippen, and Miss Alice Pfaff, of Exeter. A .private funeral service was held at the late residence on Monday at 2 o’clock . conducted by Rev. P. A. We are very sorry to report the illness of Mr. Fred Mills who was taken to the hospital recently, Wo hope for a speedy recovery, Mission Band 25th Anniversary The Mission Band of the Wood­ ham church held their 25th anni­ versary on Monday evening in the church basement. Rev. A, -JLalng was chairman. The program opened with the singing of a hymn follow­ ed by the Scripture lesson read by Betty Mills; prayer by Annie Jean Spence; chorus by the* Mission Band; recitation by Donna Mills; solos by Vonnie Suchard and Helen Webber; two lovely solos by Mrs. "Alex Berryhill; an address on the Muncey Indians by the guest, speak­ er a returned missionary, Miss Vera Decker of Exeter; piano instrumen­ tal by Dorothy Thomson; a history ■of the Mission Band in the past 25 years prepared and read by Mrs- George Wilson. The program closed with the hymn “God Be With You” and the National Anthem, quilts were sold for a nice sum after which lunch was served a Mission Band birthday cake served to all. Y.P.U. Concert. The James Street Y.P.U. present­ ed their play “Busy as a Beaver’’ in. the Orange Hall on Thursday evening, January 3rd with a fair attendance despite the icy roads. The play which was well enjoyed was under the auspices of Wood­ ham Y.P.U. Hymn 8 3 was sung followed, by the Lord's Prayer in unison, a story by John Rodd, a solo by Dorothy Thomson, The roll call and minutes were read and adopted. A poem was given by Ombra Copeland followed by an instrumental by Lorene Jaques, a story by Marion Mills and Hymn 48. During Mr. Guettinger’s long term he proved himself a real friend to i both teachers and scholars. Some of those he served as scholars in ilhe early part of his term, he later served as teachers.
