The August 'meeting was held on Thursday, August 16 th in the church with a good attendance, being as this was a special child­ ren’s meeting and quite a number of children were present. The meet­ ing opened by singing two hymns, “Our Lord’s Return to Earth Again” and “Wonderful Saviour” after which Mrs. John Perkins led in prayer. Roll Call was answered ■by verse of .Scripture on “The Second Coming of Jesus.” Minutes ■of the last meeting the secretary. The then dealt with. In the ab­ sence of the president, Mrs. M. Southcott, the vice-president open­ ed the meeting choosing the hymn, “Jesus calls us o’er the tumult”. Sentence prayers followed, given by several members, Mrs. Kyle in the absence of the secretary, Mi’s. Zur- brigg, read the minutes of the July meeting and called the roll. Mrs. H. Perkins, assistant treasure!, gave the financial report. Mrs. S. McFalls, corresponding secretary, reported quite a number of replies from sick and shut-in#. Mrs. Hor­ ney, community friendship conven­ or, made fifteen calls. Mrs. Pybus, Christian Stewardship secretary, gave a reading stressing the fact that many who enjoy the gospel privileges give nothing towards sending it to help others to know the Christian way of life.
