Born in Kingston in 1867, he resided in Brucefield for many years where he was well known. His widow, formerly Mabel Caldwell, of Hensall, a son three daughters survive. A program presided over by Ann Hil- debrant was opened by the call to worship. There’s a Song in the Air, There’s a star in the sky, There’s a Mother’s low prayer, And a baby’s soft cry, And a star rain its fire while the beautiful sing, For the manger of Bethlehem cradles a king. Mrs. Orr read the Scripture Lesson, Luke 2, which was alter nated with the singing of the fol lowing hymns, While Shepherds Watched Their Flocks by Night, It Came Upon a Midnight Clear, Away In a Manger, and O Little Town of Bethlehem, Seals were presented to Betty E. Moir and Ann Marie Hil- debrant. Pearl McLeod led in pray er and the offering was 1’eceived and dedicated. Mrs. Roy Bell read a Christmas story “Chundra Lila’s First Christmas.” Betty E. Moir gave the Treasurer’s report which was very good. O. Macdonald recently attended the banquet held at the Clinton Hotel for the managers of all Registered Egg Grading stations in this district. A very instructive address was given by Mr. E. R. Hooey, District Poultry Inspector, regarding the new contract for shell eggs for shipment to Great Britain. » S.S. No. 6 Cromarty School Concert The Cromarty School Christmas concert was held in Staffa Hall on Saturday evening, December 16th. The hall was filled to capacity des pite the snowy weather and was tastefully decorated by the school teacher, Miss Jean Cole. Mr. Wm. Kay was a very capable chairman and introduced the program. For the first portion the pupils were anddressed in sailor costumes presented appropriate sailor songs and readings which were all excep tionally well given. Mr. presented a pantomine "Nearer God to Thee" older girls. He also presented a musical play "Memories” with all pupils taking part in songs and rec itations. The evening was complet ed with a visit from Santa Claus and gifts were distributed from the well-laden Christmas tree. Miss Cole and the children are to be highly commended on the wonder ful performance and also Mr. Wein as it is his first year as music teacher in this school section.
