Mrs. I-Iunkin, of Exeter, returned pome after visiting with her sister, Mrs. Ann Ferguson. Mr. and Mrs. Percy Philips, of Toronto, spent their 'vacation at their home here recently. Mrs, F. Group, one, Mes­ dames Pfaff and Sherritt; group 2/ Mesdames Welsh, Beer, Norminton, Russell, Sangster, assisted by Donald Jpynt and Allen Crerar, who rendered their services attending to the beating of the candy; group 3, Mesdames Hess, Ellis and Smale. Others contributed a tempting as­ sortment of cookies, while still others donated necessary supplies such as corn syrup, butter, eggSj milk, cookies variety papers, blades, combs, An additional treat (maple sugar cakes) was provided by Mrs, Carl Stonemap. A gift of cigarettes was received from Mr. Andrew Dougall; Mr, George Hess donated flints. In­ cluded in this total (48) were 2 Ladies’ Parcels, one for Cpl. Helen Bell, and one for N-S. Lieut. Marion Dougall. All shipping charges were borne by the' War Service Commit­ tee, As we stated previously all pos­ tal wbrk in connection with the par­ cels (such as addressing, declaring, etc.) is most capably managed by Mr. F. Mr. and Mrs, Albert Smith have received two letters from their son Ralph, who was last week reported wounded in Ralph’s head ous. A. met at Mrs. Garnet Johns’ for the August meeting. The program was prepared by Mrs. Pooley and ’Mrs. Horace Delbridge, the former taking charge of the meeting, opening with singing hymn 26 and prayer by the leader. Mrs. Pooley and Mrs. Squire Herd- man took the worship service, reading and scripture responses and prayer. Miss- Dora Delbridge gave a reading “New China of the West.” Minutes were read and roll called, some business also consid­ ered. It was decided to ask all members interested to hand in written suggestions which will add interest and improve our meetings at the next meeting which will be held on Sept. 27th at the home of Mrs. (Rev.)
