Mrs, McDonnell was appointed to visit during July and August. The hymn "Take My Life and Let It Be” and the Benediction concluded the program. HENSALL Mr, Robt. Simpson spent a few days in Toronto this ■week. Mrs. Robt. McKenzie and family are holidaying at Wrpxeter. Mr. W. B. Cross, manager of the Bank of Montreal, is on two weeks vacation. Mr. and Mrs. Carl Passmore visited on Sunday with relatives in Detroit. Miss Margaret Shepherd, book­ keeper at Thomson’s Mill, is oh vacation. Mrs, W. Chambers, of Exeter, visited recently with her sister, Mrs. Roy Bell. The many friends of Mr, Thos. Hudson ase .pleased to hear he is improved in health. Mr. Percy 'Gram, of Chicago, visited recently with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Geo. Gram. Miss Amelia MacKay, of Toronto, is the guest of Miss Greta Lammie and Mrs. Lammie this week. Misses Ruth -Hess and Lenore Normington are attending the Gode­ rich Bummer School this week. Mrs. Jack Farquhar and Graham visited on Monday with the former’s mother, Mrs. -Bawden. in Exeter. The annual picnic, of Chisel­ hurst United Church will be held at Turnbull’s Grove on Thursday. Patsy, little daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Clayton Horton, east of the village, has been ill with pneumonia, Mrs. Rosser and Mrs, Zavitz, of Denfield, visited on Monday with their sister, Mrs. A. L. Case, who is ill. Mrs, Marie Hart and family, of Toronto, are holidaying with Mrs. j Hart’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. A. Fos­ ter. Miss Marion Mac'Laren, of Gode­ rich, and Miss ’Lois MacLaren, nurse-in-training at Kitchener Hos­ pital, spent the week-end with friends in town. Mr. and Mrs. R. J. Murdoch, of Brucefield, received word from their daughter, Nursing Sister Audrey Murdoch, now in the British Isles, stating that she is well. Mrs. Hannah Workman and Mrs. Nonman Btanlake attended the Thomson reunion held at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Wellington Good at Auburn on Wednesday. Mr. and Mrs. Cline Flynn, of London, Sgt. Wilfred Klopp, of Woodstock, and Mrs. Klopp, of Lon­ don, spent the week-end with their parents, Mr. and Mrs. Jas. Par­ kins. "Tiny” pet dog of Mr. John Bol­ ton, was returned to its owner last week after being lost for a month. The dog was returned to Mr. Bolton by Mr. Ernest Talbot of Stanley Township, who received a substan­ tial reward. Mr. Geo. Petty, of Detroit, visit­ ed last week with his brother. Mr and Mrs. Wm. Petty, and sister. Mrs. T. D. Wren who is ill. He was accompanied home by his sister. Miss Olive Petty, who intends spend­ ing some time there. W.M.S. Meet The July meeting of the W.M.S. of Carmel Presbyterian Church met on Thursday at 3 p.m. in the school room of the church with Mrs. B. 0. Edwards, presiding. The meeting opened by singing "More Love to Thee. 0 Christ”, followed by prayer by Mrs. Edwards. The Scripture lesson, Phillip 4, was read bv Mrs. d. Hudson, after which Mrs. Work­ man led in prayer. Mrs. Hudson presided over the -business, Fiftv- three visits were reported, Mrs. Malcolm Dougall favored with a vocal solo entitled "*Tis The Bessed Hour of Prayer;” accompanied by Miss Reid at the piano. Tlie topic on "Jhatisi Missions,” was ably taken bv Miss Minnie Reid, The meeting closed by singing "I Need Thee Every Hout*” and the Lord's Prayer in unison. WLS. Brook in the chair, The meeting opened by singing THAMES ROAD Miss Eleanor Dawson is holiday­ ing with relatives in Toronto this week, Mrs, F, Hof ley, Marion and John, of Winnipeg, spent a few days with Mr, and Mrs. R, Williams last week. Mr. and Mrs. R, Williams attend­ ed the funeral of Mrs. P. McEwen in Toronto on Saturday last. Miss Loreen Venner, of Exeter, is holidaying at the home of Mr. and Mrs. B, Williams. ‘‘ Miss Margaret Allison is holiday­ ing this week at Grand Bend. Week-end visitors with Mr, and Mrs. P. Passmore were, Mr. and Mrs. Wm. E. Tookey and Miss Edna Longman, of London, Mrs. William Simpson and Mr. and Mrs. Walter Gunning, of Whalen, and Mrs, A. Gunning, of Exeter. LAC. Allison Morgan, who was home for several days while on furlough, has returned to Calgary, Alta. Mr. and Mrs. Ray Knight and daughter, of London,are spending this week, with Mr.and Mrs. C. Knight. Mr. Bert Gardiner,of London, spent the week-end at his home. The Hunkin picnic was held at Grand Bend on Saturday, Several from this community attended. A C Cohen, of Centralia, spent the week-end with Edwin Miller. L.A.C. Bob McCurdy is now stationed at Dartmouth, Nova Scot­ ia. Mr. W. L. Whyte, of Seaforth, will be the guest speaker at the I-Iurondale Women’s Institute held at the home of Mrs. Morgan on Wednesday evening, July 26th. Members please try to attend this meeting. The Thames Rd. Mission Band was held on the lawn of the Manse, on Sunday morning during church service hour with an attendance of 28. In absence of the President, Labelle Coward was in charge of the meeting. Meeting opened with Hymn 44 6, followed with all repeat­ ing the Mission Band Purpose. Scripture was taken by June Cow­ ard, followed with prayer by Mrs. Weber. Roll call was taken. Treas­ urer’s report was given. Collection taken and Hymn 43 2 was sung. Program was as follows: Floyd Stewart, a story, Margaret Bray, a reading, Irwin Ford, a recitation, Betty Mair, a story, June Coward, a reading, "The Children of the Promise.” Topic from the study book, "Give me Something Hard­ er,” by Mrs. Weber. It was decided to have the August meeting on the lawn of the Manse Saturday the 19, of August taking the form of a pic­ nic. Girls to bring sandwiches and boys bring cookies. Hymn 426 was sung and meeting closed with the National Anthem and prayer by Mrs. Mair. The regular monthly meeting of the Thames Road Mission Circle was held at the home of Miss June Coward on Friday night with the President June Coward presiding. Meeting opened with Hymn 384 and prayer by Mrs. Mair. Scripture Lesson was read by June Coward. Secretary’s report was given, ’ fol­ lowed by Roll Call. Business was discussed and offering taken. Hymn 5 77 was sung. Program was as fol­ lows: Topic, Ina Harris, Herald. Marioh Hodgert, Reading Mrs. Mair. Hymn 15 was sang and meet­ ing closed With Mizpah Benediction. Mr. Charles Ferguson and Eva of Uderton, and Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Linden and Verna of Denfield, visited recently with Mr. and Mrs. W. Horney. Miss Jean Chandler of Parkhill, is visiting friends here. The monthly meeting of the L.A. and W.M.S. was held recently and was in charge of the work commit­ tee. Mrs. W. Wolfe occupied the chair. Prayer was offered by Mrs. G. Link and the scripture was read by Mrs. D. Tieman. A piano duet was played by Mrs. M. Klumpp and Mrs. J: M. Tieman. The guest speaker for the meeting was Mrs. Emmery Fahrner, of Crediton, who gave a report of the W.M.S. convention held in 'Olivet Church, Kitchener. The president, Mrs. G. Link, presid­ ed for the business. Following the meeting a social half hour was en­ joyed. Mr. and Mrs. Lome Jolliffe and family ,of Mt, Elgin, are holidaying with Mr. and Mrs. Floyd Pridham. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Brown, of Toronto, a former Anderson boy spent a few days with his cousin Mr. Arlo Copeland, this week. Mrs. R. Roy and daughters, of Stratford, are holidaying with Mrs. Garnie Doupe. Miss Norma Tufts aud Miss Ruth Harding are in Goderich attending Camp School this week. Constable W. S. Miss Fern Rodd, of London, was a week-end visitor at the home of her parents Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Rodd.
