We are enjoying the best of wea ther here at this time and it is tainly a vast improvement over which we had to contend with ing the winter months. Italy at time is living up to its expectations of a hot dry climate and at times it is almost too hot for comfort. Am certainly enjoying the change and am hoping it continues for the re mainder of my stay here. The southern part of the country is rathei’ a barren rock waste with very little growth except that of olive trees and oranges and numer ous types of nuts. The portion of the country where I now am is a vast wheat district and at the pres ent time is headed out and begin ning to ripen. The wheat itself is a soft type but is good for making spaghetti flour. Have myself en joyed several spaghetti dinners in several private homes and enjoyed every morsel of gained a slight native tongue, it ny sight trying it. Although have knowledge of the makes a very fun- to make yourself understood .and after waving one’s arms about like a Dutch windmill you finally give up in disgust. Olive oil at the present time is very scarce and also are the best wines. Have had the opportunity to sample some of the prize wines of Italy I will say they are tops. The is just beginning to set behind hills and the sky is a lovely Soon the lovely Venetian moon appear and the most as bright now as have a before I can hit you again for the much appreciated parcel and looking forward to see- : iug you all soon.
