CENTRALIA Mr. and Mrs. Norman Mitchell visited with friends in Mitchell on Saturday of last week. Miss Pearl Merriam has returned to Victoria Hospital, London, after spending a three week’s vacation with her parents, Rev. and Mrs. i Merriam. Mrs. G, R. Andrew was in Ot­ tawa last week attending the grad­ uation of her daughter, Miss Esther Andrew from the hospital there. Mrs. Wm. Hollaron, of Moores­ville, visited with Mrs. Geo. Flynn on Friday of last week. Mr. and, Mrs. W. McRoberts, of Lucan, were Saturday evening visi­ tors with Mrs. Clara Abbott. Mrs. Murray Elliott returned home from Victoria Hospital om Saturday. We hope to see her out again in the very near future. Mr. and Mrs. Wenzel Molitor, pf Thedford, visited On Sunday with Mr, and Mrs. J. Pollard, Tel. R. C. Field, S.O, of New- j foundland, is spending his furlough with his parents, Mr, and Mrs, Bruce Field. Mrs. Andrew Hicks was taken to Victoria Hospital, London, on Fri­ day of last week. Her many friends wish her a speedy convalescence. Miss Margaret Cook, of Kitchener spent the week-end with her par­ ents. Mr. and Mrs. B. Cook. Mr. and Mrs. Ken. Simpson, of Ailsa Craig, visited Saturday with Mr. and Mrs. P. Simpson, Mr. and Mrs. I. Macaulay and children, of Montreal, are holiday­ ing at the home of the latter’s par­ ents, Mr. and Mrs. Andrew Hicks. Mrs. George Flynn received word on Sunday that her son Harold was in a Detroit hospital suffering from injuries received jn an accident. We hope for a speedy Mrs. Marie,, guests The Essery home for the past couple of weeks with their aunts, Mrs. Parsons and Mrs. Kershaw. Don’t forget the Sunday School picnic at Spruce Grove, Friday of this week. Supper will be served at 5.30 p.m, followed by a good of sports. Everybody come bring your lunch basket. A very successful father’s service was held in the church on Sunday morning. The church was beautifully decorated with flowers and special music was provided by a men’s choir. Mr. Arnold Kilmer, of Clandeboye, assisted the-choir at the morning service. A baptismal service was conducted by the pas­ tor, Rev. Merriam, The children bap­ tized were Donald Carlton, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harold Lightfoot;; Joyce Marie, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Geo. McFalls; and Evelyn daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Amos Wright. A splendid Father’s Day message was delivered by the pas­ tor. Mr. and Mrs. S. Henry, of Harris­ ton, were visitors on Friday of last week with the latter’s parents, Mr and Mrs. A. Hicks. Mrs. Henry ac­ companied her mother to London and remained at the hospital with her for several days, A very pleasant afternoon was spent at the church on Tuesday of last week when the W.M.S. enter­ tained ■ the Baby Band with their mothers at their regular monthly meeting. The programme was in charge of Mrs. Norman Michell and Mrs, Albert Mitchell, ’'efr shments were served, at the close of the meeting by Mrs. Geo. McFalls and Mrs. W. Isaac, assisted by Mrs. A. McFalls and Mrs. F, Bowden. A good crowd attended the school picnic on the School grounds on Friday evening and all reported a real good time.
