Mr. Frank Strange, writer with the R.C.N.V.R., is ill in the Christie | Street Hospital, Toronto. L.A.C. Gerald Lawson, of Aylmer, spent the week-end with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. G. W. Lawson. Warden B, W. Tuckey is this week presiding at the Huron County council which is meeting in Goderich. * Miss Catherine Armstrong is this week visiting with Flying Officer and Mrs. Lawrence at Grand Bend. Mrs. R, N. Creech left Saturday last for Washington, D. C., to visit with her son, Dr. Hugh J. and Mrs. Creech. Mrs. A. Mitchell and Mrs. Sidney Davis left Tuesday for Flint, Mich., to visit with Mr. and Mrs. S. C. 'Pollen. Dr. Jackson, of Toronto Univers­ ity, is visiting with his uncle and aunt, Mr. and Mrs. Briefly and other relatives. Rev. E. Grigg was the special speaker at the anniversary services in the Anglican church at Hensall on Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. George Anderson left Sunday for Sarnia where they will visit for a week before going on to ’Detroit. Pte Cecil Munro and Mrs. Mun­ ro, of London, spent the week-end with the latter’s parents, Mr. Mrs. Sam Jory. Mrs. Grace Aldsworth, who been ill at the home of her son, Nelson Hill, in Toronto, is showing some improvement. Mr. Elmer Dunn returned to Tor­ onto on Sunday after spending a few days with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. George Dunn. Mr. and Mrs. W. H. Black and Mr. and Mrs. Albert Fleischeur and little daughter, spent the week-end with Mr. and Mrs. John Norry. Mr. and Mrs. H. L. Sturgis and family attended the golden jubilee of the United Church at Drayton on Sunday and visited with friends. Mrs. Wm. Ferguson, Miss Ila Westcott and Mrs. Jas. Ferguson, of Toronto, spent the forepart of the week visiting Mrs. Richard Coates. Miss Nancy Patricia Wilson, of Toronto, nurse-in-tarining at the Sick Children’s Hospital, spent the. week-end with her grandmother, Mrs. Maud Heywood. A.C.2 Stewart Euke, who has just completed a course at Lachine, Que., spent a few days at his home here last week prior to being posted to the I.T.S. at V.ictoriaville. The Exeter-Hensali branch of the W.C.T.U. will hold a meeting in Hensall United church on the eve­ ning of June McTavish, of speaker. Mr. Melvin underwent an citfs in Victoria Hospital, returned to his home Thursday of last week. His friends were pleased to see him in town on Monday. Mrs. Harry McCreath, of Kincard­ ine, who has been visjting with her mother, Mrs. Irvine Armstrong, re­ turned to her home on Sunday. Mrs. Armstrong accompanied her for a visit, Rev. Jas. Anthony conducted the services in James St. United Church on Sunday, preaching two acceptable sermons. The pastor, Rev. A. B. Irwin, conducted Sunday School anniversary services at Anderson. Mr. and Mrs. H. Hutton, of Brant­ ford, visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. T. Orville Southcott on Sunday. Mrs. Southcott, who is suffering from a stroke, continues to slowly im­ prove, The are on school. Mr. H, L. Sturgis and Mr. E. J. Wtethey will go to Toronto for the marking of the examination papers. Mr. and Mrs, C, W. 'Christie are in receipt of a cablegram from New­ foundland stating that their son LAC. Laverne Christie had arrived safely on that island. The evening was fine. The winners W. G. Medd, Geo. Lay- ton and Bert Rivers, skip; second, E. E. Davies, Fred May and B. M. Francis, skip. Another tournament will be held next Friday evening. During the Music and Meditation Hour over -C.K.N.S., Kingston, Sun­ day evening, the announcer, Mr. Cyril Strange, an Exeter boy, read a poem written by Mr. S. M. Sanders, of Exeter. The poem appeared in the Times-Advocate at Christmas. The Stratford Beacon Herald Tuesday contained a pic.ture of three Exeter fishermen at Goderich with a long string of perch. The men are W. H. Hodgson, W. E. Sanders and Ken Hockey. They are holding a string containing their full quota of 25 each. TAMAN Harrison Family Picnic The Harrison family picnic was held Saturday last at Harbour Park, Goderich, witji sixty-four persons being present. Sports and races were held in the afternoon and dinner and supper were served on the grounds. Mr. Cecil Harrison was elected president for the coming year and Mrs. Lome Thurlow, secretary. A sports committee was appointed. Members of the family were present from Ashfield, Bayfield, West Wa- wanogli, Science Hill, Brantford, Kirkton and Exeter. The picnic will again be held at Goderich next year.
