Red Cross Notes
Spring is somewhat slow in com-
' ing this year and the business of
housecleaning has been held up.
All of which has meant that sal
vage collection in Hensall and dis
trict has not. yet got under 'way.
Housecleaning days mean salvage
days and with that in mind the local
salvage committee has designated
May as "-Salvage Month", Plans are
being laid for a blitzkrieg of the

ing your .housecleaning
please collect all the paper,
tai, old rags, old rubber and any
thing else that the Red Cross can
sell. But glass is out. At present
there is no market for it, so please
do not include it in your gift to the
salvage drive.
Hensall is not producing all the
fat it should. It may be that you
think that the little fat your kitch
en produces will not be valuable
enough to make it worth while sav
ing. The war effort wants and
needs every last drop of fat that
can be obtained, so everybody is
again asked to get a clean can and
put into it all the kitchen fats they
are able to get. When you get a
bit. say a full can—take it down
to the Red -Cross salvage rooim-s and
your contribution will help to
make a lot of fat and a lot of ex
plosives.’ And at the -same time
you will be helping the Red Cross.
You can get the key to the salvage
rooms at Goodwin’s store.

A delightful affair was held at
the home of William Pepper, a mile
and a quarter east of Hensall

A social time was spent and lunch
eon served. Relatives were present

Think of that when you ask yourself, “Can I afford a
Victory Bond?” For those who sacrifice so much, can you
refuse a little self-denial? Can you hold back your
dollars when they don’t hold back their lives?
Ask yourself, “Cah*t I buy a bigger Bond this year?”
Or plan to buy zW, one from savings and one on the
instalment plan from earnings. Do your part by buying
more Victory bonds!
