Fol­ lowing the ceremony the young couple left on a motor trip to Niag­ ara Falls. A reception will be held at the bride's home on their return. Schwindt daughter Schwindt, of Brunner, marriage to Mervyn G. son of Mr. and Mrs. Peter Schwalm, Hensall. Rev. H. F. Gruhn officiat­ ed. The bride looked charming in a street length dress of French blue crepe with white accessories. Mrs. Freda Gropp, sister of the bride was bridesmaid, gowned in a powdre blue dress with white accessories. Mr. Milton Gropp was groomsman. Ferguson and Miss Violet Hyde attended the Nott- Ferguson wedding in Seaforth on Saturday at which Miss Hyde was bridesmaid. To Hold Convention Here The regular meeting of the W. C. T. U. was held in the school-room of the United Church on Thursday afternoon with Mrs. Chas. Jinks presiding over the devotional exer­ cises. The meeting opened with prayers by Mrs. Jinks followed by the Scripture reading by Miss Irene Douglas. The theme song “Spirit of God” was sung followed by prayer by Mrs. Lammie and Miss Jennie Murray. After a hymn was sting Mrs. Jinks closed the devotional with prayer. Mrs. Geo. Hess, then presided. Another hymn was sung and Mrs. Hess led in prayer. A pamphlet was given on the meeting of the W. C. T, U. Bible Study to be held in Toronto in August. Arrange­ ments were made to hold the Huron County Convention of the W C. T. U. to be held in the United church on Friday, June 28lh. Mrs, Ethel Craw, of Seaforth, is to be the special speaker in the afternoon and Rev. Duncan McTavish, of Calvary Unit­ ed Church, London, is to be the special speaker in the evening. A lunch committee as follows was ap­ pointed for same, Mrs. Cook, Exe­ ter; Mrs. W. U. Pearce, Exeter; Mrs. Geo. Hess and Miss Annie Consitt. Special Council Meeting A special meeting of the village council was held on June 20th in the 'Council Chamber with all the members present, to consider hold­ ing a meeting in the near future to organize a war service club. Several members of different organizations in the community were present. Mr. Thos. Mrs. Wilson Anderson has return­ ed home after a visit with relatives in Exeter. Mr. Jack Anderson has returned to London, after a two weeks’ holi­ day at his home here. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Heatherley and Mrs. Frank Scheiding, all of Lon­ don, spent Bunday with Mrs. Cath­ arine Motz. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Ehrenfeld, of Cleveland, spent Thursday with Mr. and Mrs. Eli Lawson. Mr. and Mrs. John Lawson, of Pt. Huron, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Eli Lawson recently. Forntei* Resident Dies Mr. Thomas Edwards passed peacefully away at the home in In­ gersoll after a lingering illness. He moved to Ingersoll about seventeen years ago and was employed as t butcher there. He leaves to mourn his loss his loving wife and one daughters Vera and one son Herbert both at home ; also one sister, Mrs. Fred Smith (Tillie) in Alberta and two brothers Joe in the West and John in Stephen besides a host of other relatives and friends. The ■funeral took place to the Exeter cemetery and was largely attended. The sympathy of this community is extended to the bereaved family. was served in the Sunday School room following the program. Scripture was read by Mrs. Louis minutes of the last read and adopted, Roll call was ans­ wered by thirty members, also three visitors. It was decided to donate a pair of woollen blankets for the wounded to the Red Cross. A col­ lection was taken and enough re­ ceived by buy another blanket. A sewing was held on Tuesday night for the Red Cross at the home of Mrs. Jas. Hodgson. We are all to try to save our pennies for the Red Cross fund. Current events were given by Mrs. Ed. Flynn.
