The many friends of Miss Mary
Sanders will be sorry to learn of her
serious illness at her home oh Main
street. She is under the care of
Mrs. Strange.
Mrs. Hugh O’Connor and son,
John and daughter Miss Shirley and
Miss Helen Wallis, of Detroit, are
visiting with Mr, and Mrs. Richard
Davis.
Mr. W. G. Medd was in Toronto
Thursday of last week representing
the London Conference on the
Transfer Committee of the United
Church in Canada.
Mr. David Mawhinney is seriously
ill and was taken to St. Joseph’s
Hospital, London, Tuesday for treat
ment. His many friends will hope i
for his speedy recovery.
Mrs. Catherine Hedden, who has
been residing in Lucan for some
time, has returned to Exeter and
will make_her home with Mrs. Jas.
Brintnell on Huron street.
Mrs. Maud Heywood, who has
been residing at the home of Mrs.
Irwin Armstrong for some time,
moved last week to Mrs. Gidley’s
rooms, south of the bowling green
Mr. and Mrs. W. J. Brown and
two sons and the former’s mother.
Mrs. O. Brown, of London, were in
Exeter Sunday making a visit to
the cemetery and calling on old
friends.

Dearing, of London, were visitors
at the home of Mr. George Easter
brook on Sunday.

of Exeter for over a year having
moved here from London, left last

W. J. Beer has a live mud puppy
which he caught in a dip net while
fishing for smelt at Grand Bend
about three weeks ago. It is about
a foot long with four legs and a long
tali. The head is fairly large and
the gills appear to be fur-trimmed,
Mr. Beer has it in an acquarium and
it stays most of the time beneath a
clump of grass.

ited with Mr. and Mrs Reg. Beavers,
in Sarnia, on Sunday.
Messrs. Ed. Anderson, Douglas
Triebner, W. and J. Corbett were
at Grand Bend recently and suc
ceeded in catching 296 suckers.
The Town Council are setting a
good example for spring clean-up.
They are improving the property
surrounding the Town Hall. The
grounds will be levelled and seeded
and a fence built in front of the
Tool shed. ‘ »
A car belonging to W. Preszcator,
of Stephen, caught fire when the
engine backfired and a blaze started
around the engine. The accident
happened a short distance south
of town.- Chas. Stewart was called
from the Huron Garage and put the
fire out with an extinguisher but
not before considerable damage was
done.
