Handford, of Ingersoll, a former es­ teemed resident of Exeter, who on Wednesday of this week celebrated her 80th birthday. A number of friends in town remembered Mrs. Handford by sending her birthday well wishes. Mr. Harry Penhale, who lias been employed with the Canadian Can- ners, at Forest, has returned to Ex­ eter, and resumed his position with the Canadian Canners here. Mrs. Penhale and daughter returned with hime last week. They have taken up residence in Mrs. Gambrill’s house on Main street. ’Since the advent of spring, wea­ ther conditions have been anything but what might be assocated with the spring season. In fact the wea­ ther has eclipsed anything exper­ ienced for a great many winters. Snow ways week been bin. dreds of motorists holiday bound were stranded and unable to reach their destination. For several days there has been no traffic on the Thames Road. A horse driven by Frank Taylor taking Dr. Fletcher on a call to a patient in Usborne, Monday morning on the St. Marys road was buried so that only its head hips were visible. On Monday morning, the snow plow, the passenger train and the freight train were all stalled near Blyth.
