In supreme court at Goderich on
Monday Mrs. Bessie Jane Pilon, of
Exeter, was granted a decree nisi of
divorce from her husband, Charles
Cole Pilon, automobile company su
pervisor and awarded alimony of
$*65 a month. Mr. Pilon was a
former resident of Exeter.
Miss Otis Sawyer, whose parents
reside on highway No. 23, north of
Kirkton, obtained 100 per cent, on
a paper on musical history and
theory, which was set by the Toron

Cross War Unit held a shower of
new clothing for the refugees at the
home of Mrs. A. Ryckman on Feb
ruary 28th. It was a great success.
The clothing amounted to $75.25

THE LATE R. LUKER
The death took place in hospital
at London, Sunday, March 3rd, of
Robert Luker, for many years an
esteemed resident of Exeter, in his
ftOith year. His wife predeceased
him about fifteen years. For. a
number of years his brother, Wil
liam, of Centralia,, who is in his
90 th year, has resided with him. The
deceased had been ailing for about
six weeks and on the Monday be
fore his death was taken, to hospital.

OIL WELL
CHATHAM, Mar. 5—This Well,
which was completed at 3.285 feet .
level last week, showed over 1,000,- 000' cu feet of Gas when tested that
day and the Oil has risen to within
1500 feet of the surface. The Gas,
on contract to the Dominion Gas
Co. for the life of the Well, was
connected <to the Gas Company’s
pipeline today and the Well is being
prepared now for the pumping of OU
from same. The price of crude oil
now is $2.17 per bbl. —- dn contract
