Mrs. Mrs. in eet- Rev. Wm. Weir B.A., Inducted 'On Wednesday evening January 3, Rev. Wm. Weir B.A., formerly of Portage ,La Prairie, Man., was in ducted as pastor of the congregation of Carmel Presbyterian Church at Hensall. Rev. D. C. Hill, Exeter, narrated the steps taken to fill the vacancy left by the removal of the former minister Rev. W. A. Young B. A. to Fergus. The Moderator of Huron Presbytery Rev. Boyle, Blyth presided and inducted. Rev. Mr. Hugh Jack, of Seaforth, preached a very fine sermon. Rev. Peddie, of Clinton, delivered the charge to the congregation and Rev. D. Lane, of Goderich delivered the charge to the minister. The congregation retired to the school-room of the church following the induction service and were introduced to Mr. and Mrs. Weir after which refreshments were served. A Red Cross meeting will be held in the band hall on Thursday, Janu ary 4th at 1.30 p.m. All ladies are invited to attend. Snow has been falling the last few days. In some districts motorists were reported having dif ficulty and should the storm con tinue another day it is believed many of the roads will be impassable. Drysdale was the scene of a happy event on New Years Day when the latter’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. J. W. Ortwein celebrated their golden wedding-. The living-room was beau tifully decorated for the occasion with golden bells and golden poin- settas while the dining-room was decorated with silver and red car nations. The guests were received at the door by Miss Kay Drysdale and welcomed by Mrs. G. M. Drys dale and Mrs. James Patterson. Mrs. G. M. Drysdale received in the liv ing-room with Mr. and Mrs. Ort wein and invited the guests to the dining-room, where Mrs. R. A. Brook and Mrs. Wm. Davidson poured tea while Mrs. R. A wedding of wide-spread inter est was solemnized on New Years Day at three p.m. in Blyth United Church with a setting of palms, ferns and mums forming a very ef fective background, when Marion Elva Sinclair, of Toronto, only dau ghter of Rev. and Mrs. Arthur Sin clair, of Blyth and formerly of Hen sall was united in marriage to Thom as Harold Sherritt, of Dundas, son of Mr. T. J. Sherritt and the late Mrs. Sherritt, Hensall. The cere- money was performed by the bride’s father, Rev. Arthur Sinclair, pastor of the Blyth United church. Mr. A. E. Cook, church ’organist, presided at the console. Given in marriage by her brother, Mr. Norman Sin clair, of Toronto, the bride looked charming in a floor-length gown of ivory chiffon over taffeta with a quilted bolero jacket. Her finger-tip veil fell from a crown of pearls and was caught with orange blossoms and carried a bouquet of pink roses and lily of the valley. Miss Isabelle Alexander has turned to her duties at Maple. A very enjoyable enening was spent on Thursday evening when Rev. and Mrs. Chandler entertained the Young people of Kippen and Hillsgreen United churches. The evening was spent in games and contests which were enjoyed by all. A very dainty lunch was served by the hostess. Miss Doris Alexander, who has spent the holidays at her home here returned to London where she goes to the London Business Institute. We are. sorry to report Mrs. Al lan Johnson underwent an opera tion in Clinton Hospital recently. We wish her a very speedy recovery Mrs. Mina Love is spending a few days with her son Mr. and Mrs. Ross Love. Misses Margaret and Jean Pybus, of Zurich, are visiting their grand mother Mrs. H.
