Miscellaneous Shower Given
Bride-Elect
A large number of neighbors and
friends gathered at the home of Mr.
and Mrs. Robt. MacLean on Monday
afternoon and presented their eldest
daughter, Maude, bride-elect with a
miscellaneous shower. A very fine
program was presented and the
bride’s trousseau and gifts were dis
played. Refreshments were served.
The bride was the recipient of many
beautiful and useful gifts.
One of Hensall’s oldest residents
passed away in Scott Memorial Hos
pital, Seaforth, on Thursday morn
ing in the person of Mr, Daniel Mc
Naughton after an illness of seven
weeks, in his 87th year. The de
ceased farmed for a number of years
in Hibbert Township, coming to the
village about seventeen years ago.
He was predeceased by his wife
three years ago and one daughte"?
Greta died several years ago, Sur
viving are one daughter Mae, of Tor
onto and two sons, Peter McNaugh
ton, Hensall and Lome, on the
homestead in Hibbert Township, The
funeral service was held on 'Satur
day at 1 p.m. from the home of the
son, Mr. Peter McNaughton conduct
ed by Rev, R. A. Brook, and was
largely attended. The floral tributes
were very beautiful. Interment in
Hensall Union cemetery. The pall
bearers were Messrs. Geo. T. Wren,
John Sheppard, Geo. Follick, Frank
Coleman, Thos, Hyde and David Ro
binson.

with a painful accident while crank
ing his car in the garage on Wed
nesday evening. Unfortunately the
car was in gear and when Mr. Beer
cranked it, it jumped forward, crush
ing him against the wall, with the
result of fracturing one leg and in
juring the other. He was attended
by Dr. D, G. Steer and removed to
Westminster Hospital, London, for

Thames Road Mission Circle was
held at the home of Helen Selves
on Saturday, afternoon, November
11th. The meeting opened by sing
ing hymn 60'9 followed by the
Lord’s Prayer. Roll call was answer
ed and the secretary’s and treasur
er’s reports were given. Business
was then discussed. An interesting
letter was received from Miss Clare
McGowan, Presbyterial secretary for
Mission Circles and was read by
Anne Morgan. A crokinole party
was arranged for Friday evening of
this week. Christmas stockings were
knit in preparation for sending gifts
up north. A herald was read by
Mrs. Mair. Hymn 503 was then sung
followed by Mizpah benediction.
Lunch was served at the close.

The regular monthly meeting of
the Women’s Missionary Society
held in the schoolroom of
church on Tuesday afternoon of
week. Mrs. George Hepburn
charge of the devotional part of the
meeting. The meeting opened by
singing “What a Friend we have in
Jesus”. Mrs. Andrew Isaac read the
Scripture lesson and offered prayer.
Hymn 396 was sung. Mrs. Hepburn
gave a splendid report on the Con
vention ’at Grand Bend. The presi
dent, Mrs. A. McFalls, took charge
of the business. The chapter in the
study book was taken by Mrs. Fal
conbridge. The meeting was brought
to a close with prayer and a dainty
