Mr. .Scherbarth was taken ill Saturday with yellow jaundice, later developing poliomy- letis. Sunday evening he became delirious and was taken to Strat ford General Hospital where he died Tuesday morning. Mr. Scherbarth was born at Broadhagen, neai* Dub lin and came to Crediton a little over a year ago where he was en gaged as principal of the Public School. In all my associations with him during his short stay in this community, I never knew him to be anything but bright and cheerful and his generous, friendly impulses made him a universal favorite. His most was supply of, humor and he was never happier than when matching wits with others in sparkling repartee in which he rarely finished second best. Possessing as he did so large a place in the warmest affection of all those who knew him, particularly the staff and scholars of the school, it is no wonder they are stunned at the sud- deness of his death, and particular ly in the manner of his passing. Happy memories of one whom it was always a pleasure and privilege to meet will linger long in the hearts covery. i 'Sacrament or the Lord’s Supper Bruce !wi11 1)6 celeDrated in the United Church on Sunday next.
