A teacher for 30 years, Al Sygrove
has been elected as the Avon
Maitland District School Board’s
chair for 2014. Sygrove replaces
local representative Colleen
Schenk, who served as chair in
2013.
In a press release from the board,
Sygrove, who represents the
Northwest Huron County region,
says he is aware of the problems
facing the small, rural school
board, but adds that the board is
doing a good job of being
progressive.
Julie Moore, trustee for the Perth
East area, was elected as the board’s
vice-chair for next year. She
volunteers at the Perth East Library,
the Huron-Perth Community Legal
Clinic, the Avon Co-operative
Nursery School and the Emily
Murphy Centre.
