The sweet and quiet influence of your life!
(J.R. Miller,“Intimate Letters on Personal Problems” 1914)
“God did not call us to be impure, but to live a holy life.” 1Thessalonians 4:7
I know Christians who are not brilliant, who never do any great things--but whose
lives are so true, so consistent, so Christlike, that wherever they go, they carry in
their very presence a bit of heavenly sunshine.
Concerning one of these, a friend said a few years ago, standing by the coffin of the
young woman who had been called home, “Wherever she went, flowers grew in her
pathway, and the air was always sweeter when she entered the room.” This is true
of certain lives, even apart from what they do. Of course, it is the godly life and
character which makes the pleasant face, and which gives to the presence its strange
power.
May God give you grace always to be a blessing wherever you go, not only in the
things you do and the things you say--but still more in the sweet and quiet
influence of your life.
“Your beauty should not come from outward adornment, such as braided hair and
the wearing of gold jewellery and fine clothes. Instead, it should be that of your
inner self, the unfading beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit, which is of great worth
in God’s sight!” 1 Peter 3:3-4
“Set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.”
1 Timothy 4:12

Barb Bosman, left, was presented with her plaque

its surrounding communities. Bosman was named Citizen of
the Year, an award given annually by The Citizen and its
parent company North Huron Publishing, earlier this year
for her extensive work throughout the community.
Presenting Bosman with the award last week was Lois van
Vliet, a member of the company’s board of directors. (Shawn

‘The Citizen’ preps
for the holiday season
Starting Jan. 5, 2014, the Blyth
post office will be changing its
hours.
As part of a decision made by the
Canada Post Corporation, the post
office, which has faced closure
before, will have its daily hours
changed and no longer be open on
Saturdays.
Previously, the site was open
Monday through Friday from 8 a.m.
to 5:15 p.m. and Saturday from 9
a.m. to noon.
The new hours will see it open
later and close sooner most days.
Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and
Friday the post office will be open 9
a.m. to 5 p.m. and Thursday it will
be open 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. The office
will not be open on Saturdays.
North Huron Council previously
discussed the issue, and, while no
one was happy about it, Councillor
Brock Vodden mentioned a
reduction in hours is preferable to
losing the office altogether.
Blyth post office starts
reduced hours Jan. 5
