Carollers tour Auburn
Warming up the community
Dozens of members of the Huron Chapel Evangelical Missionary Church congregation were
out and about in the village last weekend, carolling and handing out hot chocolate and apple
cider to residents who needed a warm-up. Here, Gerry Upthegrove, centre, was warmed up by
Sarah Hastings, left, and Jordyn Johnston, right. (Mark Royall photo)
A hay wagon full of children from
Huron Chapel Evangelical
Missionary Church toured the
streets of Auburn this past week,
singing and playing cheerful
Christmas carols for all the village’s
residents. Many came out of their
homes to watch, listen and wave to
the kids as they passed by. A few of
the residents even had video
cameras out to catch the holiday
moment. As some kids sang from
the wagon, others went door to door
handing out Huron Chapel mugs
with packages of hot chocolate or
apple cider along with invitations for
two of the church’s upcoming
Christmas programs.
On Sunday, Dec. 22 at 7 p.m. the
Sunday School presents itsChristmas program called, “Hope”.It is a free event that features dramaand music. Then on Dec. 24 there
will be the always popular
Christmas Eve service at Huron
Chapel beginning at 7:30 p.m.

PEOPLE AROUND AUBURN
Club donates to OneCare
On Nov. 18, nine members of the
Walkerburn Club and one guest met
at the home of Pat Hunking.
President of the month Deanna Snell
had two readings, “Reason for
Remembrance Day” and “My
heartwarming Christmas Traditions”
followed by prayer. Eileen
McClinchey read the minutes of the
last meeting. Roll call was a
Christmas tradition. Ila Cunningham
gave the treasurer’s report.
It was moved by Mary Elder and
seconded by Deanna Snell that
donations be made to the Salvation
Army and OneCare. The group
received five names of people
without family from the Ansfield
Retirement Home to buy Christmas
gifts for. Vera Penfound offered to
buy the gifts. Deanna Snell read
some riddles and gave tips on uses
for WD40. Pat served a delicious
lunch of fruit bread and cheese and a
social time followed.
The club members were to go to
Ansfield Home on Nov. 27 to sing
carols. The weather was not good, so
it was cancelled and six members
went on Dec. 4 instead.
