Lobb has been amember of the committee for over a year and was notified by the Chief Government Whip of the new position on Nov. 21. “It is truly an honour to be the new chair of the Standing Committee of Health. The committee recentlycompleted an extensive study ontechnology in Health Care in Canadaand is currently studying prescription drug abuse in Canada.” The House of Commons Standing Committee on Health is empowered to study and report on all matters relating to the mandate, managementand operation of Health Canada. Thecommittee is also responsible for theoversight of four agencies that report to Parliament through the Minister of Health including Canadian Institutes of Health Research, Patented Medicine Prices Review Board, Canadian Food Inspection Agency and Public Health Agencyof Canada. The Health Committee isa significant committee in Ottawafocused on studying important issues for all Canadians. Lobb is also a member of Veterans Affairs Standing Committee, former chair of the Government Auto Caucus, a member of the Rural, Mining, Housing and NuclearCaucus. He has also been a memberof the standing committee onHuman Resources, Skills, Social Development and the Status of Persons with Disabilities, Public Safety and National Security and Agriculture and Agri- Food.
