North Huron and Morris- Turnberry councils met for a cross- border servicing agreement meeting on Nov. 12. What was discussed, however, will stay under wraps. North Huron Chief Administrative Officer Gary Long explained the meeting was almost exclusively in camera and the negotiations that took place will remain secret until both councils are prepared to moveon them. “We’re currently looking for ways to strengthen our agreement with Morris-Turnberry,” he said. “North Huron would like to receive adequate compensation for extending water and services to properties in Morris-Turnberry. At the same time, we recognize that we need to work and partner with Morris-Turnberry to attract economic development to the area and that means having those servicesavailable.” Morris-Turnberry Administrative Clerk Treasurer Nancy Michie said the meeting was fruitful but any changes would come out of further discussions between Long and Michie. “We didn’t resolve anything last night,” Long said of the meeting. “It was a good discussion, we saw where things were going.” He explained the two municipalities are looking atupdating information in regards to the agreement and said they discussed tax sharing. “We’ll see where it goes from here,” he said. “I don’t think Nancy and I will meet immediately, but I hope to meet with her in the next week or two and talk about the key points that were raised and try and put together a framework for negotiations.” Long explained North Huron would prefer to have theseconversations in the public eye, but stated that sometimes discussions do need to go in camera to speak freely about negotiations. “When there are agreements ready to be decided on, we can come forward and reveal the terms and conditions to the community,” he said. “We’re not ready to bring that forward however, we are still in the midst of negotiations.” Border servicing discussed by municipalities Business Directory Affordable CAR AND TRUCK RENTALS Large & Small Trucks fridge carts - piano dollys- moving blankets Complete Selection of Cars Our rates qualify for insurance replacement Passenger Vans full size or mini GODERICH TOYOTA 344 Huron Rd. 519-524-9381 GODERICH 1-800-338-1134 NEW CONSTRUCTION AGRICULTURAL RENOVATIONS RESIDENTIAL Call 519-527-1538 Tarion Home Warranty Builders THE ZAHND TEAM JAMES BROWN PHARMACY 198 Josephine St., Wingham, Ont. 519-357-1629 Hours: Mon. - Fri. 9 - 6 Sat. 9 - 4 Rear Parking Available Delivery available - COMPLETE MECHANICAL SERVICE - COMPUTERIZED TUNE-UPS - TIRES - BRAKES MUFFLERS - VEHICLE INSPECTION STATION DAN'S AUTO REPAIR Owned and Operated by Dan & Heather Snell RR 3, Blyth, Ont.
