PAGE 27. “Johnny Cash and the Queens of Country” is coming to the Blyth Memorial Hall on Sunday, Nov. 17 for a special matinee performance at 3 p.m. In addition to Johnny Cash, this brand-new all-star tribute show also celebrates the music of Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline. Produced by Bill Culp, the man behind the recent sold-out Blyth theatre event “Patsy Cline: The 50th Anniversary Show”, fans are urged to purchase their tickets early. Culp has assembled a notable line- up of world-class talent for this special event including Jim Yorfido, best known for his starring role as Johnny Cash in “The Sun Records Story”, the official, international touring show of the famed Memphis-based label that launched the career of “The Man in Black” back in 1955. “There’s a very obvious reason why Jim was offered that prestigious role in the Sun Records show. Without a doubt, his voice is the best ‘Cash sound-alike’ in the industry. He has that same booming Baritone and each song is performed in the original ‘Johnny Cash’ key,” Culp says. As a special bonus, “Johnny Cash and the Queens of Country” co-stars Canadian Country music legend Marie Bottrell. With a total of 18 “Top 40” radio hits, Bottrell is an eight-time Juno nominee, a two-time CCMA Female Vocalist of the Year, and in September 2010 was inducted into the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame. “Tammy, Loretta, Dolly and Patsy…what a line-up! It’s an honour to sing these timeless classics and to pay tribute to these musical pioneers. I grew up listening to their songs…I loved them then and I still do today,” Bottrell says. Joining in the fun will also be Pam Yorfido, who has won rave reviews across Canada for her portrayal of June Carter Cash alongside her real- life husband of 25 years, Jim Yorfido. “It’s so much fun to do shows with Jim and Marie. We enjoy ourselves on-stage and off, and I think that fun atmosphere really comes across to the audience.” Similar to Bottrell, Pam also grew up listening to Country music and is proud to note that she “will be wearing actual Tammy Wynette stage dresses in the show,” Yorfido says. Songs performed in the show include “Ring of Fire”, “Boy Named Sue”, “Stand by Your Man”, “Coal Miners’ Daughter”, “Working Nine to Five” “Crazy” “Walkin’ After Midnight” and many other favourites from Johnny Cash, Tammy Wynette, Loretta Lynn, Dolly Parton and Patsy Cline.
