WE CAN DO IT ALL!
He always gives sufficient grace
(J.R. Miller,“Help for the Day”)
“Meanwhile, the disciples were in trouble far away from land, for a strong wind had
risen, and they were fighting heavy waves! About three o’clock in the morning,
Jesus came toward them, walking on the water!” Matthew 14:24-25
God adapts His grace to the peculiarities of each of His children’s necessity. For
rough, flinty paths--He provides shoes of iron. He never sends anyone to climb
steep, sharp, rugged mountainsides--wearing silken slippers. He always gives
sufficient grace.
As the burdens grow heavier--His strength increases. As the difficulties thicken--He
draws closer. As the trials become sorer--the trusting heart grows calmer.
Jesus always sees His disciples when they are toiling in the waves, and at the right
moment comes to deliver them. The sharper the temptations--the more of Divine
grace is granted. There is, therefore, no environment of trial or difficulty or
hardship--in which we cannot live beautiful lives of Christian fidelity and holy
conduct.
“My grace is sufficient for you!” 2 Corinthians 12:9

NH Council feels new voting systems not the answerNorth Huron Township Council isdebating updating the way
ratepayers vote, but some
councillors wonder if new votingmethods will improve voter turnout.During the 2010 Municipalelection, North Huron Townshipvoter turnout hit an all-time low of
between 37 and 38 per cent, seven to
eight per cent lower than theprovincial average of 45 per cent.Council has, in the past, discussedupdated voting methods includinginternet and telephone voting,
however council was more
concerned, at its Oct. 21 meeting, with engaging the public throughtraditional means over using newvoting technologies to increaseturnout.
Chief Administrative Officer Gary
Long prepared a report outlining
several different options for the
municipality to pursue including
internet, telephone, vote tabulation
machines and voting by mail, a
practice employed by Morris-
Turnberry. It also analyzed the
current, traditional paper ballot
method employed by the
municipality.
In his report, Long outlined the
advantages and drawbacks of each
system before stating technology
would make voting easier for not
only voters but for administration as
well as all of the options save the
current model, mitigate any
problems that may be caused by
scrutineers.
For the 2014 election, Long
suggested online voting, telephone
voting and traditional paper ballots
be used both on election day and
advanced polls.
The financial impact would be
significant, according to the
document, and could result in a 55
per cent increase over the $7,726.39cost of the 2010 election. Long
