anything can happen and that’s what
happened and they got the extra
point.”
“But, I was happy, we come back
and get one point,” he said.
The coach said Mitchell plays a
frustrating game. “It’s a very
frustrating game, the way they make
you play,” he said.
He said the team’s play has been
inconsistent. “Sometimes we play
three periods like we did last
weekend, but you can’t take a period
off,” said Livingston.
“Our play has been inconsistent,”
he said. “The power play is coming,
they got a few tonight.”
He said Mitchell plays with a lot
of knowledge and they play well and
they frustrate their opponents.
“That’s why we have to do a little
different things with them,” said
Livingston.
Assistant captain Brophy said it
was a tough loss for the Ironmen.
“We had a good third period, but
you're not going to win many games
playing only one period,” he said.
“We have to have stronger starts and
a stronger second period if we’re
going to win games.”
The Hawks appeared to be taking
runs at the Ironmen, especially
Armstrong, he said.
“Aaron’s one of the top players in
the league so he’s got a target on
him.
He’s had a target on him for some
time, but you just have to keep going
and battle through that stuff,” he
said.
The Ironmen play just one game
this coming weekend. They host the
Mount Forest Patriots on Friday,
beginning at 7:30 p.m. at the North
Huron Wescast Community
Complex.

They’re going the distance
Runners on the F.E. Madill Secondary School Cross
Country team, like the Senior Girls team shown above, put
on a fine showing at the annual Western Ontario
Secondary School Athletics Association in London at
Springbank Park last week. The team includes, from left,
Marion Studhalter, Nicole Jacobs, Tristin Cook, Emily Meier
and, not shown, Victoria Jacobs. (Photo submitted)
It was a fitting finale to the seasonfor the 22 cross country runnersfrom F.E. Madill Secondary Schoolwho competed at the Western
Ontario Secondary School Athletics
Association (WOSSAA)
Championships held at Springbank
Park in London.
Seventeen of the 22 students ran
their fastest races of the season and
three others came within two
seconds of their best times. Although
no runners advanced to OFSAA, the
team continued to show that hard
work at practice reaps the benefit of
continued improvement.
In the Midget Boys division,
Franklin Marshall continued to show
fine running form with the best
individual placing for Madill (15th).His teammates, Craig Raynard,Mitch Ward and Jeff Gordon alsohad strong races.
The Junior Boys division were led
by Michael Schraa and Wes Klages.
Teammates Evan Skinn, Chris
Enders and Tanner Stevenson lent
their support with top personal times
for the season.
In Senior Girls, Nicole Jacobs and
Marion Studhalter were team leaders
followed by newcomer Emily Meier
who improved on last week’s
performance at Huron Perth. Both
Tristin Cook and Victoria Jacobs ran
well to help their team to an 11th
place finish. It was the final high
school race for three of the girls:
Nicole Jacobs, Marion Studhalterand Tristin Cook.In Senior Boys, five of the eightMadill runners knew it was their
final high school cross-country race.
They gave the race their best effort.
Scott Dolmage, a first year senior,
led the boys with the best placing.
Of the eight senior boys, seven
had their best runs of the season.
Lucas Klages, Jason Meier, Jesse
Fortier, Robbie Gordon and
Nick Barger are graduating seniors
who have been loyal and
hardworking members of the Madill
team.
WOSSAA marks the end of a
successful 2013 cross country
