Fifty years of bliss
Murray and Joanne Souch of Blyth recently celebrated their
50th wedding anniversary with a party at the Blyth Legion.
(Vicky Bremner photo)
Joanne and Murray Souch
celebrated 50 years of marriage on
Oct. 12 at the Blyth Legion.
It was on Sept. 28, 1963 that the
two were wed. The ceremony took
place at the Blyth United Church.
Joanne Adele Johnston, the
daughter of Stewart and Stella
Johnston of Blyth took the hand of
J. Murray Souch, the son of Charles
and Laura Souch, in marriage on
that cool Saturday in September.
The ceremony was officiated by
Rev. R. Evan McLagan.
Joanne’s bridesmaids were Lena
(Dougherty) Nesbitt, Joyce
(Johnston) Breckles and Gail
(Johnston) Gorman, while Murray’s
groomsmen were Murdie Souch,
Bill Souch and Wayne Johnston.
The couple vacationed on their
honeymoon to Northern Ontario
before returning to Blyth to live.
Upon returning, Murray worked
in maintenance, while Joanne spent
her days as a bookkeeper. They are
retired now, of course, with Murray
retiring in 2003 and Joanne
following him shortly after in 2005.
They have four children, Karen,
Lori, Stephen and Kevin and four
grandchildren, Mitchell and Jenna
Coultes and Ryan and Nicole More.
In their spare time, they like to
spend time with their family and
friends and they like to go camping.
