Bluevale sculptor favours working on large projectsContinued from page 18on a lot of factors.”An example is the palm treeswhich he usually sells in pairs.“People love having them neartheir pools,” he said. “They can take 50 to 60 hours for a pair, but it isn’tlike I sit down and do that for a weekstraight.”The general rule of thumb is the
sooner customers chat with him, the
sooner the project gets done,
especially with Christmas looming,
but some of them just can’t be
rushed.
“I have one fellow who wants me
to make a life-sized bear for him,” he
said. “That’s a full week’s work but
it might take me six weeks to get it
all done if I’m able to do it.”
He also said smaller projects are
easier to fit into a deadline because
the creation process isn’t as long and
the resources are easier to find. That said, he is still always excitedto work on big, more extravagantpieces.
“I love the big pieces and I’m
thinking of doing some more to have
around the shop and show people
what I can do.”
