Boundary adjustment finalized by county Big meal The Belgrave Community Centre must have hit maximum occupancy when the 65th annual turkey supper was held there on Oct. 9. (Denny Scott photo) After months of debate recently, but years of discussion, the Goderich/Goderich Township (now a ward of Central Huron) boundary adjustment has been finalized. The bylaw was up for discussion at Huron County Council’s Oct. 2 meeting and several councillors spoke in favour of the adjustment, saying it could benefit the whole county in a number of ways. Goderich Mayor Deb Shewfelt said that after finalizing the issue with Central Huron Mayor Jim Ginn, he recalls discussing the issue with Ginn’s father, who had previously been involved in Goderich Township politics. “That’s a relationship that has continued on into the future and we did get a deal that will benefit everyone,” Shewfelt said. He said the deal will provide an upgrade in storm water management for the area, which should help to increase development. Ginn told councillors that he echoed Shewfelt’s sentiments and felt the boundary adjustment should do wonders for economic development going forward. Morris-Turnberry Mayor Paul Gowing also said Morris-Turnberry and North Huron finalized a similar agreement years ago and that it worked out well for both sides. 7-Day Weather ForecastElliott Nixon Insurance Brokers Inc.Monday Tuesday WednesdaySundaySaturdayFridayThursday Brought to you by Elliott Nixon Insurance Brokers Inc. ~ 519-523-4481 • enib@himginsurance.com 9°9°9°12°10°10°14° OPE N I N G SPR I N G 2 0 1 4 Retirement life to discover!
