Maitland WMS
holds fall rally
“Do you know God’s Plan?”
(taken from Jeremiah 29:11) was the
theme for the fall rally meeting of
the Maitland Presbyterial WMS held
on Monday, Sept. 16. The evening
began with delicious desserts served
by the Ripley women. Greetings
were given by Betty Johnson who
led the group in a time of singing.
Worship was enlightening and led by
the Brussels group. Nick McArter
was the group’s child sent to Camp
Kintail this year. He sent a very
warm thank you to WMS for the
opportunity to have such a fun
experience.
The guest speaker was Dr. Rev.
Ted Creen, Director of the Huron
Feathers. Dr. Green is a retired
Presbyterian minister from Owen
Sound. Huron Feathers Christian
Mission on Sauble Beach provides
the gospel to youth for eight weeks
during the summer. It has been in
operation since the 1960s. Dr. Creen
also has visited Malawi. He shared
the work of the Presbyterian
Church in Canada and the
Partnership of the Central African
Church. There were many amazing
stories of God’s love among the
people of Malawi. The Church in
Central Africa is alive relying on
God by faith.
Joan Threndyle from Kincardine
was recognized for her diligent
contribution to the work of the WMS
through the years, and was presented
with the Presbyterial Honourary
Membership certificate by Barbara
Stuart. The annual meeting will be
held in Wingham on Jan. 20, 2014.
