(William Thoseby, “Foot-prints on the Sands of Time” 1869) “It is appointed unto man once to die; but after death the judgment!” Hebrews 9:27 “I hold the keys of death and the grave!” Revelation 1:18 Christ has the key of death suspended at His belt! None can enter among the immortals--until Christ has turned the key for him! None can stay among the mortals--after that key has been turned upon him! And as the key may be turned at any possible hour--how important it is that we should get ready and keep ready for its turning. We know not “what a day nor an hour may bring forth.” There may be the sudden burst, the instant call, the midnight cry, “Behold, the Bridegroom comes!” Both the sinner and the saint should remember that death comes unexpected, and the arrow is unseen which strikes through the heart! “Prepare to meet your God!” Amos 4:12 “Like crowded forest trees we stand, And some are marked to fall; The axe will smite at God’s command, And soon will smite us all!” A Grace Gem Submitted by: Immanuel United Reformed Church, Listowel, ON 519-291-1956 Local groups help out at Thresher reunion Rain or shine The annual reunion of the Huron Pioneer Thresher and Hobby Association had people lining up outside the Blyth Campgrounds and down County Road 25 early Tuesday morning. President Reba Jefferson opened the meeting with the pledge, then led roll call, which asked why pectin was used in jam. All members answered with pectin causes the jam to set, as they had learned about pectin at meeting one. Meagan Higgins then read the minutes from meeting one. Mary Ellen Foran then asked members how their peach jam had turned out. A few members had tried it and liked it; one member has even finished her jar already. The club then thought of names for the club and voted for the name Country Canners. Following the business of the meeting, Mary Ellen talked about the importance of canning properly, types of pickles, and their ingredients. The club then watched a video on making pickles. The club then got to work. The members divided up the tasks and worked together to make their pickles. Members washed and sorted cucumbers, then cut the ends off or sliced the bigger pickles to make stackers. Next, members took their sterilized jars and put a clove of 1st Blyth Scouts REGISTRATION Beavers ~ 5-7 years Wednesdays meetings in Londesboro Public School Cubs ~ 8-10 years Tuesdays meetings in Blyth United Church Scouts ~ 11-14 years Wednesdays meetings in Londesboro Public School Venturers ~ 14-17 years Wednesdays September 12 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. Trinity Anglican Church, Blyth For more information contact: Lavern Clark ~ 519-523-9659 Shari Cartwright ~ 519-523-9974 Cty.
