The black Chevrolet pick-up truck above and a camping trailer were involved in the incident. (Denny Scott photo) Firefighters from the Fire Department of North Huron operating out of the Blyth Fire Hall responded to a two-vehicle collision on County Road 4 in front of The Old Mill south of Blyth on Thursday afternoon which resulted in the road being closed for more than an hour. A collision occurred between the front of a north-bound black Chevrolet pick-up truck and the back end of a New Vision Sportster camping trailer being hauled by another pick-up truck. North Huron Fire Chief David Sparling said, in a phone interview with The Citizen, that the damage to both vehicles was extensive as the black pick-up truck’s front appeared to be completely demolished. The trailer could not be moved any further than the site of the collision. The call for the accident went out at 4:45 p.m. and firefighters from North Huron were on scene within minutes. The firefighters returned to the hall at 6 p.m. and the road opened shortly after, having been closed since the collision occurred. Four people were involved in the incident and two were hospitalized with minor injuries. Reports indicate that the driver and passenger of the black pick-up truck were local while the passengers of the other truck were from the Hanover area and were returning home after a vacation in the United States. By Denny Scott The Citizen North Huron, Central Huron need to discuss new business plans Continued from page 1 issues,” Ginn said. “We also have to do the site plan approval and some of those issues are discussed then.” Ginn said the plan was received very well by council. “Obviously, there was a restaurant there previously, so it’s great to have a site that’s not being used put in to use,” he said. “I think it’s a plus not only to the residents of Central Huron but also the residents of Blyth.” North Huron Deputy-Reeve David Riach stated that North Huron had not been contacted regarding the servicing of the property since lands that close to Blyth would tie in to the existing water and sewage connections and the strain the business could put on that system would need to be discussed. He said he had also not heard of any stormwater management studies being done and stated that, if the entire parking lot was paved, it could cause a change in the way water drains from the land. Unfortunately for North Huron councillors, the public meeting regarding the change was held on the same night as North Huron Township Council’s regular meeting on Tuesday, Aug. 6, preventing any councillors from attending. Representatives from 2336438 Ontario Inc. didn’t respond to calls from The Citizen before press time and were unable to answer the concerns brought up by Riach.
