Marlins features local players, wins Niagara Falls tourney
Continued from page 8
according to Sebastian.
“It was nice being there and
playing the international teams
because you don’t see them
frequently,” he said. “We see teams
from the other provinces pretty
frequently but we don’t get to
face off against these other
countries.”
One example of that was Team
Ontario’s match against New
Zealand in which they triumphed
13-10. While Sebastian was happy
about the win, it wasn’t the high
point of the tournament.
“When you give up 10 runs, you
really shouldn’t be winning, but we
ended up hitting well so we did
come away with a win,” he said.
“The team from New Zealand was
pretty good.”
Sebastian, who still has one
tournament left in Owen Sound as a
member of the Wiarton Red Devils
where he will tackle some of the
members of the winning squad, will
be heading back to Sarnia in
September to attend Lambton
College.
Sebastian was joined by 16 other
players including three other
members of the Wiarton Red Devils
(for whom Sebastian plays) in Travis
Jones, Andy Barber and Charlie
Maulson. George Armstrong, a
summer employee with the
Township of North Huron and
Wingham resident, was also on the
team.
Big winner
Ty Sebastian led Team Ontario to a big win at the U21
Men’s Fast Pitch International Championship in Saskatoon
earlier this month. Sebastian, the captain of the team, had
six home runs and 17 runs batted in as the team took first
place. (Denny Scott photo)

Saturday night at Clifton Hill and a
good night’s sleep, the girls went on
to play in the semi-finals on Sunday
morning against Ancaster 2. The
team fell short with a 6-2 loss which
put them into the bronze medalgame. The bronze medal game sawthe Marlins and Mar-Fab Vaughan
Vikings meet again. The
Marlins played with pride and
determination.
The girls mercied the team in the
fifth inning with a final score of 11-
1.
