In loving memory of my dear husband, Ralph who passed away June 30, 1999. I cannot halt the hands of time, Nor live again the past, But in my heart are memories, That will forever last. Deep in my heart you’ll always stay, Loved and remembered every day. – Sadly missed by your wife, Gladys. 26-1p -------------------------------------------- CALDWELL. In loving memory of a dear father, grandfather and great- grandfather, Ralph Caldwell who passed away June 30, 1999. Our Father kept a garden, A garden of the heart, He planted all the good things, That gave our lives their start. He turned us to the sunshine, And encouraged us to dream, Fostering and nurturing, The seeds of self-esteem. And when the winds and rain came, He protected us enough, But not too much because he knew, We would stand up strong and tough. His constant good example, Always taught us right from wrong. Markers for our pathway, That will last a lifetime long. We miss your wisdom, your gentle touch, your smile, but most of all we miss you! – Love, your family. 26-1p -------------------------------------------- MAIZE, Greg. June 27, 2011. Walking with Grandpa I like to walk with Grandpa, His steps are short like mine, He doesn’t say now hurry up, He always takes his time. Most people want to hurry, They do not stop and see, I’m glad that God made Grandpa, Unrushed and young like me. I miss you Grandpa. – Love Shyanne 26-1 -------------------------------------------- MAIZE, Greg. June 27, 2011. Dad it is two years since you passed away. There is always a face before us, A voice we’d love to hear, A smile we always remember, Of a father we loved so dear. Deep in our hearts lies a picture, That’s more precious than silver or gold, A picture of our father, Whose memory will never grow old. – Love Adam, Doug, Ange, Bruce and Aleda. 26-1 MAIZE, Greg. June 27, 2011. Greg it has been two years since you passed. A picture of you I carry in my heart, I close my eyes to see it when the world gets dark. A memory of you I carry in my soul, I wrap it close around me when the nights get cold. If you ask how I am, I’d say just fine, But the truth is if you could read my mind, Not a day goes by, That I don’t think of you Greg. – Love Roxy. 26-1 FAXING SERVICE NEW LOW RATES! TRY CLASSIFIED Chris Mish, Vice-President, Co- Founder and Chief Economic Officer of Sun Country Highway, a company interested in making electric vehicles (EV) more prevalent by providing a comprehensive system of chargers across Canada, addressed North Huron Township Council last week regarding installing some vehicle chargers in the area. Two chargers, one at McGavin’s Farm Equipment in Walton and one at The Old Mill south of Blyth, already exist near North Huron, however, Mish explained that the organization wants to make Canada the most electric vehicle-friendly country in the world and has already made several areas completely electric-vehicle accessible. “We are looking at empowering Canadians to lead global change by adopting a model for economic and environmental sustainability,” Mish said. “Our goals have always been lofty. We wanted to create the longest green highway and we pulled it off in less than eight months. Now we’re looking at 80 different sites with infrastructure and media events and a tour coordination to help bring more attention to the issue. This year, we’ll be looking at 90 per cent of the Canadian population being able to access electric-vehicle chargers. We’re looking at installing 1,000 publically available EV charging stations. Ontario is lagging, but by moving aggressively, we can put the province back on top. He explained that Prince Edward Island, New Brunswick and Vancouver Island are already 100 per cent EV friendly. Mish explained that, as part of what he called the Highway 21/4 launch, he wanted to see some EV units installed in the area. His proposal called for one CS-90 charger, which he called the most advanced on the market, to be installed in North Huron in a ‘prominent’ location for $2,398. “This would put North Huron on the map as a leader in providing public EV charging infrastructures in Ontario, promoting a sustainable environment and economy,” he said. “By adding one or two additional stations beyond the first, North Huron would become one of the most EV-friendly municipalities per capita in Ontario.” The unveiling of Highway 21/4, a program Mish hopes will see both corridors made completely EV friendly, is set for mid-July. When asked, Mish explained that the chargers charge one vehicle at a time and that takes approximately an hour. Most vehicles will cost less than $1 to charge. He also explained the units are fully covered by warrantee and will be serviced out of the company’s London office. Council stated they would discuss the issue further at a later date. By Emma Baan The second meeting of the Grey Township 4-H Club was held at the Maple Keys bush near Ethel. The meeting was opened with the 4-H pledge by leader Monique Baan at 7 p.m. on Friday, June 21. The roll call was answered by 17 members. The roll call question was “What is the most important thing to take on a hike?” Some of the answers were: a water bottle, proper footwear, bug spray and a first aid kit. After the roll call members chose a name for the club. Some of the suggestions were: Huron Hikers, Mosquito Bait, Wild Walkers and the Hitch Hikers. Members all agreed on the name The Grey Township Mosquito Bait. Then they set out on the hike. The hike took about an hour. The group had three 4-H leaders as well as three parents along for the hike. The group saw a lot of neat things in Maple Keys Bush: a salamander, a tree deformed when it was young by a fallen tree that had now rotted away but could still be seen covered with moss a little piece away, wild ginger, a memorial spot for someone, tent caterpillars and many, many, many mosquitoes. It was a beautiful night for a walk and a great trail to walk. sometimes we overlook the places closest to our own homes. After a fantastic second meeting, the group is looking forward to its third meeting, which will be happening in the near future.
