The Citizen, 2013-06-20, Page 18PAGE 18. THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, JUNE 20, 2013.Continued from page 9Brock noted that chloride and nitrateconcentrations were reviewed withsome issues found at the Clintonshallow well where guidelines wereexceeded for nitrates. She said someremedial work to address those typesof readings include tree planting, berm installation and upgrading sep-tic and wastewater treatment facili-ties.
“There is room for optimism,” she
said, noting some problems are exacerbated during heavy precipita-tion.Brock said the Ministry ofEnvironment and the OntarioMinistry of Agriculture Food andRural Affairs are studying the MainBayfield and Bayfield North water-sheds as part of the Healthy LakeHuron project. Brock added commu-nity-based watershed plans will be
shared with the greater community
from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m., June 20, at theStanley Complex in Varna. During a question period, Brocknoted when it comes to pollutants, the Authority is not able to identifywhether the sources are human oranimal. She also confirmed to MayorJim Ginn that some of the criteria for the report card have changed. Shepledged to forward further informa-tion about the findings to council at alater date.Dwight, Dawson and I want to start out by thanking our incredibly supportive family, friends and surrounding communities for making this year’s Logan Hallahan BBQ and Auction so suc-cessful. We love you all! The Belgrave Kinsmen prepared a wonderful roast beef dinner for approximately 411 people. The sun came out in the afternoon and provided the event with excellent weather. The Live
and Silent Auctions had many exceptional items generously donated by many local busi-
nesses, individuals and the Hockey Hall of Fame. Auctioneer Jim Campbell from Lucan and
Auction Announcer Caleb Kennedy from 94.5 The Bull Road Crue, entertained the crowd for
two hours.
The following donors provided silent & live auction items:
Donations also received from Westario Power Inc. (Walkerton), Wescast Industries (Wingham), Ted Moran Mechanical

Honourable mention needs to go out to the Belgrave Kinsmen and their wives, for their generous support of the event again
this year. A big thank you to Dave from Ernie King Music for connecting the microphone to the speaker system for the auction.
Thank you as well to Henry Frischknecht for donating the cooler for the day’s events.
We hope the funds from this event will purchase the equipment needed to someday save
the life of a loved one, while
honouring the memory of our own little man Logan. It is also important for us to support the
Wingham & District Hospital which has provided our family with great care for many years.

Shallow Clinton well exceeded nitrate levels: Brock

not well attended because it was only
advertised in a newspaper in
Milverton, but none of the Huron
County newspapers.
Councillor Paul Klopp said that
the motion was for staff to further
investigate the trail, so he felt those
kinds of issues would be
addressed in the second report from
staff.
Fisher told councillors that she
understands that not everyone is
planning to use the trail as a one-way
trip from Goderich to Guelph or vice
versa, so organizers are looking at
installing natural loops throughout
the trail, which would feed users of
the trail through communities along
the trail.
Central Huron’s Jim Ginn said that
he felt the opportunities that could
come from the trail are “just awe-
some”.
Council approved the recommen-
dation and staff will bring a report to
council at a future meeting before the
meeting in late fall, which has yet to
be formally scheduled.
Council appointed Ashfield-
Colborne-Wawanosh’s Neil Rintoul
and North Huron’s Neil Vincent, in
addition to Robertson, to attend the
fall public meeting.
Summer a bad time for

being donated.”
Summer is an extremely important
time for clinics, according to
Gatfield, because blood always runs
low.
“Summer is a challenging time
because people go on vacation or
they change their routines and donat-
ing blood isn’t always at the top of
their mind,” she said. “The need for
blood doesn’t take a vacation. We’re
calling on donors and emergency
service workers to help us insure the
national blood supply stays stable.”
Aside from the presentation, a
cake-cutting ceremony will also be
held.
