Donna Shaw read two poems called, “Spring” and “Little Green Lies”. Ruth Gordon led the worship. Nancy read the minutes of the last meeting and a discussion followed pertaining to a change in dates for The Longest Play event and the purchase of a new organ for the church. Ruth Gordon gave the treasurer’sreport and Pat Hunking gave anupdate on the cards that have beensent out. Pat noted that we have seven couples within our congregation who have been married for 60 years or more. Nancy Folkard introduced the program called “Spring Clean-up for the Soul.” She gave six steps, with references from the Bible, to do thatclean-up. Nancy concluded theprogram with the reminder to be atpeace with yourself. Get to know who you are, what makes you happy and learn to balance what you can and can’t change about yourself. In new business members discussed plans for the over 80 birthday party on July 30 at 2 p.m. atKnox United Church.Muriel Coultes showed a bookcalled, “He Said, She Said” and members discussed the idea of using it for Bible Study in the fall. Following the benediction and grace, a delicious lunch was served by Nancy Jardin and Muriel Coultes. A social time followed. By Linda Campbell Call 357-2188 PEOPLE AROUNDBELGRAVE Belgrave Community Club event features dinner and a show On Friday, June 7 the Belgrave Community Club met at the Community Centre at noon. A total of 24 people were present to enjoy a potluck meal and fellowship. President Muriel Coultes welcomed all and opened the program with a reading titled, “Grandma’s Apron”. The secretary’s report was read by Nancy Jardin and treasurer Jim Hunter gave an update on the finances. To help with club income, a basket for toonies is available for donations at each club gathering. Muriel Coultes kept the members informed about the various upgrades and the costs incurred by the board. Shoot parties are set for June 14 and 28. Birthdays and anniversaries were acknowledged with special mention of Bob and Jane Grasby’s 68th wedding anniversary on June 9. Special guest musicians were introduced. Elaine and Jim Scott and Cal Gatsby entertained with old-time favourites and a sing along. The next regular meeting is announced for Oct. 4. New members would be warmly welcomed. NEWS FROM BELGRAVE A concert to get jazzed about Tyra Muscheid-Sitler proved she had the soul to master the sax during Maitland River Elementary School’s spring concert last week. (Denny Scott photo) The service on Sunday, June 16 Father’s Day/Sunday school Anniversary will be at 11 a.m. at Knox United Church. The service will be conducted by the children with a chicken barbecue to follow. Everyone is welcome. Please bring gifts of non- perishable food or money for the local food drive. The children will collect your donations during the service. The food will be distributed around June 22. If you know of anyone in need please contact John Cartwright. Rescheduled date for the Longest Play is Sept. 21. Thank you to all who have submitted their favourite hymns. Your last chance to enter your favourite hymns will be Sunday, June 23 and these will be used during the Longest Play. Under sunny skies a family gather of 24 and potluck noon meal was held at Mark and Bonnie Garnier’s in Fullarton on Sunday, June 9 to celebrate Ruth Jardin’s 97th birthday. The community extends best wishes and birthday greetings to Ruth. Special Father’s Day service set at Knox By Michaela Rodger The fourth meeting of the Lucknow Beef Club was held at Keith Todd’s sheep farm on May 26. The meeting was opened with the members reciting the 4-H pledge led by Connor Rodger followed by an update on each member’s 4-H project. Then, Tyler Murray read the minutes from last meeting. Next, Colton Rodger, treasurer, stated he had not received any income or expenses. Melissa presented an update on Mary’s Restaurant and the barbecue held on May 11. After leader Heather Barger gave members an update on Dungannon Fair, Holly introduced Keith Todd. He spoke about what type of breeds of sheep he owns and information about them. Next, Keith took 4-H club educated on sheep practices, breeds NOTICE OF SPECIAL MEETING REGARDING A REVIEW OF THE NORTH HURON OFFICIAL PLAN TAKE NOTICE that the Township of North Huron will hold a Special Meeting of Council to discuss revisions that may be required to the North Huron Official Plan.
