THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, JUNE 6, 2013.OMB appeal adjourned until end of year Put on a good face The Brussels Lions held their annual elimination draw on the weekend at the Brussels, Morris and Grey Community Centre and there was plenty to keep the young people busy, like face painting, which appealed to Anna Fear, as Binky the Clown played Picasso. (Jim Brown photo) An Ontario Municipal Board (OMB) hearing launched by an appeal of the Huron County Official Plan by Central Huron has beenadjourned to the end of 2013 at the earliest. The hearing was scheduled to begin on Monday, but Central Huron’s lawyer requested an adjournment, which OMB ChairmanColin Hefferon granted. The adjournment was requested by Central Huron for more time to hire a new planner to act as an expert witness. In another development, HuronEast’s Cindy Moyer, president of the Huron-Perth Landowners Association and Dave Hemingway, a member of Central Huron Against Turbines, were both allowed to participate in the hearing. Their status as participants grants them the authority to make statements, call witnesses and request evidence once the hearing resumes. Central Huron Chief Administrative Officer Peggy Van Mierlo-West is currently interviewing planners. Central Huron originally launched its appeal nearly a year and a half ago when council took issue withseveral portions of the Huron County Official Plan, which had just undergone its mandated five-year review. The portions of the plan council took issue with concerned renewable energy and commercial- scale water taking. A new date for the hearing will be set once lawyers file a procedural notice, including a statement from the planner, who has yet to be hired, and a witness list. Once the new date is set, it is possible that the case could be heard by a different OMB chairman. RETIREMENT HOME Independent and Assisted Living 1-877-831-2585 Call for more information!
