THE CITIZEN, THURSDAY, MAY 30, 2013.Special play performed by ‘Mr. and Mrs. Minister’ Sincere sympathy is extended from the community and surrounding area to Dianna and Harold Robinson and family in the loss of Dianna’s mother Catherine Lenover at the age of 107 years. There were six-and-a-half tables of shoot in play on Friday, May 24 at the Community Centre. Winners were: high pink card, Marie Stewart; second high pink card, Muriel Taylor; most shoots pink card, Mary Taylor; high white card, Ken Spears; second high white card, Marie Millian and most shoots white card, Ross Peacock. The next shoot party is on Friday, June 14. Everyone is welcome. The Gospel Light Mennonite Choir took us on a musical journey with Jesus. It was truly an inspirational evening and enjoyed by all. If you missed it, watch for upcoming news on their return. Many thanks to those who provided food and helped in the kitchen. The community extends bestwishes and congratulations to Billand Muriel Coultes on their 55th wedding anniversary. Ross and Mary Procter are also extended best wishes and congratulations on their 60th wedding anniversary. On May 26 Chalmers Presbyterian Church in Whitechurch celebrated their 149th Anniversary. Jean Ross and Rena Forester favoured the congregation with instrumental prelude music. Pastor Elly Dow welcomed everyone. The choir introit selection was The Call to Worship was followed by the Prayer of Approach and The Lord’s Prayer. “Joyful, Joyful, We Adore Thee” was followed by Elly reading scripture from Psalm 95 selected verses. “For Heaven’s Sake” (quartet from Chalmers Presbyterian Church, Pond Mills Rd., London) have been singing together for 15 plus years Paul Laidlaw (melody), Tom Vannus (tenor), John Goodfellow (bass) and Jim Harret (alto) entertained the crowd with several selections. “The Dyeing Routine” was a two- person play by Mr. and Mrs. Minister. Mr. Minister was Pastor Steve Hildebrand of the Egmondville United Church for 11 years. Steve, and his wife Ruth have two daughters, Jenn and Emily. Elly played the part of Mrs. Minister. It was truly a gift of laughter. Mr. Minister talked about “The Dyeing Routine” (dyeing clothes) and many descriptive things that happen in the process while Mrs. Minister thought it was all about dying. The offering was taken up and dedicated after the singing of “Great Is Thy Faithfulness”. For Heaven’s Sake entertained again. Elly said the closing prayer and the closing hymn, “The Day Thou Gavest” was sang. Thecommissioning and benediction andthe instrumental postlude and singing the Grace concluded the worship service. Refreshments and a time of fellowship was enjoyed downstairs. Chalmers’ first church was a little neatly-kept white frame building in the woods. A party of surveyors for the railway were asked, how far they had gotten and replied to the white church. Later when the station was built, it was called Whitechurch. The First Church 1864-1895. Irene Lamont and Donelda Cottrill attended the funeral of Eileen (Holmes) McLellan on May 23 at the McFarlane & Roberts Funeral Home, London. Eileen was formerly of Belgrave and was a dear friend ofIrene Lamont and Donelda for manyyears. The community extends sincere sympathy to all the families of Eileen. David Mayberry, the Ontario Representative of the Canadian FoodGrains Bank conducted the service at Knox United Church on Sunday, May 26. Someone is needed to take on the leadership role for Vacation Bible School. Without someone to take this position, the Vacation Bible School will not run this year. They also need three or four adult volunteers to help run the program this year as well. If you are willing to take any of these positions contact Kim Walker at 519-357- 3237. Custom Crafts 398 Queen St., Blyth 519-523-4276 The Township of North Huron (the “Township”) has concerns with the Blyth Ground Water Supply System. In addition to aging infrastructure (wells, storage and pumping/treatment facilities), the Town also has concerns with insignificant fire flow contribution, well redundancy and structural integrity of buildings. The Township wishes to evaluate alternative options to upgrading the water supply system including the replacement and relocation of the water wells. Azimuth Environmental Consulting (Azimuth) has been retained by the Township to undertake an Class EA in accordance with the requirements of a Schedule “B” undertaking as outlined in the Municipal Engineers Association Municipal Class Environmental Assessment document (2000, as amended in 2007 & 2011). The study area is proposed to be confined to a 500-700 m radius of the Village of Blyth (see included map). The Class Environmental Assessment planning process includes public and review agency consultation, evaluation of alternatives, assessment of the effect of the proposed works and identification of measures to mitigate any adverse impacts. The key component of the study will be consultation with interested stakeholders. The Township and Azimuth will be contacting surrounding property owners, government agencies, and First Nations communities in the area to identify and discuss their concerns regarding the proposed undertaking. The first public open house will take place on June 12, 2013 at the Blyth Community Arena Hall located at 377 Gypsy Lane, Blyth, Ontario between 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. The open house format will be an informal question and answer period. Public input is invited for incorporation into the planning and design of the project through the duration of the project. Upon completion of the study, project files will be prepared for public review and comment for a period of 30 days. Subject to comments received, the Township intends to proceed with the planning, design, and construction of this project.
