Central Huron welcomes its new planner Central Huron is rolling out the welcome mat to its newly appointed planner Monica Walker-Bolton. Walker-Bolton, who comes to the Municipality from Ashfield- Colborne-Wawanosh, replaces Susannah Reid, who has moved on to Morris-Turnberry. “I am really excited about this opportunity to work with CentralHuron,” Walker-Bolton said atCouncil’s May 13 Committee of the Whole meeting. In a later portion of the meeting, Mayor Jim Ginn asked Walker- Bolton to include a list of “all inquiries’ made to the planning department as was the past practice several years ago. While not committing to the plan, Walker-Bolton noted the concern is there could be a long list and thereare privacy issues to be considered.Ginn remained in favour of the move. “It certainly helps keep us abreast of what potentially could be out there,” he said. Councillor Barnim said what is “probably just as important’ is to see the answer that inquirers receive. Walker-Bolton said she would have to discuss the issue with the planning department team sincethere is a process in place. “We don’twant to prejudge planning,” she said. Barnim said the suggestion is an “improvement’ on what was not working. “I don’t think that is prejudging,” he said. “I don’t want to repeat what we’ve done in the past.” Deputy-Mayor Dave Jewitt suggested moving questions with regard to planning into the strategic planning session set for June.“We need to come up with aconsensus of how it is going to work,” said Jewitt. The mayor said change is in order. “It is important to know whether our polices are working,” said Ginn. “There is a bit of urgency here.” Administration was directed to report back with a list of potential meeting dates to further discuss the issue.
