Last week the Grade 7/8 and Grade 7 classes examined a huge map of the war of 1812. It took up most of the gym floor. This map was on loan from the Royal Canadian Geographical Society and the Government of Canada. Students were able to walk all over the map and examine it. A number of interesting activities were also provided which helped students understand what happened back then. By Jenna McDonald Are you a heart hero? Certainly our principal is. During the Heart and Stroke presentation he came prancing through the gym wearing a red, yellow and white super hero suit. All the students were very amused. Thanks Heart and Stroke Foundation for coming and presenting to us. By Ben Stewart Hello everyone, this week the Grade 4 class has been very busy with track and field on Monday. They also had two tests this past week and two birthdays. In sciencethey are now exploring gears andpulleys. Miller) “As your days--so shall your strength be!” Deuteronomy 33:25 We have nothing to do with life in the aggregate--that great bulk of duties, responsibilities, struggles, and trials which belong to a course of years. We really have nothing to do even with the nearest of the days before us--tomorrow. Our sole business is with the one little day which is now passing. Its burdens will not crush us--we can easily carry them until the sun goes down. We can always get along for one short day--it is the projection of life into the long future, which dismays and appalls us. Each day is, in a certain sense, a complete life by itself. It has its own duties, its own trials, its own burdens, and its own needs. The very best we can do for the perfecting of our life as a whole, is to live the one day well. We should put all our thought and energy and skill into the duty of each day, wasting no strength, either in grieving over yesterday’s failures--or in anxiety about tomorrow’s responsibilities. This lesson makes life easy and simple! “Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.” Matthew 6:34 A Grace Gem Submitted by: Immanuel United Reformed Church, Listowel, ON 519-291-1956 Ma(t)p Using a huge, gymnasium-sized map of Upper and Lower Canada, students at Hullett Central Public School learned about the war of 1812 last week. Teacher Abby Armstrong, centre, is shown here explaining to the students how difficult it was for war to be fought in the tough terrain which affected supply lines and resulted in armies running raids on each other.
