HERBAL ONE 167 Inkerman St., Listowel 519-291-6611 By Jo-Ann McDonald The middle of May and things at the Brussels Legion Branch are winding up for the season. The darts were over for the year last week and this week, the Friday night suppers finished. There was a great group of around 35 enjoying the meal. There was scalloped potatoes, chicken breast, salisbury steak, roasted back bacon, roast pork and salads. A wonderful last supper for the year. Pat Langlois thanked the ladies who prepared the suppers each week and a round of applause was heard. Ladies who have diligently prepared the meals every week were Deb Cann and new helper, Greta Zehr who prepared the potatoes; Jo-Ann McDonald, the menus and the meat and desserts and Mary Bradshaw, salads, checks the ovens, vegetables and organizes the utensils. A good crew of ladies who all worked well together. The Branch thanks the ladies for their dedication. The pie crew was at work again this week when Sandra, Jo-Ann and Judy finished up the orders. The orders were picked up on Saturday by the purchasers. Thanks to all who supported the pie fundraiser. The Branch had a busload of Legion members from the Exeter Branch arrive on Saturday afternoon for a short visit. They were on a tour of Branches throughout the area. There were about 28 people and they started at Seaforth, then travelled to Brussels, and then headed for Blyth, Clinton and Goderich Branches. They stayed for an hour and then were on their way. President Deb Cann welcomed the load and gave them a Branch ribbon. Comrades from Exeter visit Brussels Legion Not cranky at all A ‘crank-in’ of users of sock knitting machines which are operated with a hand-crank was hosted at St. John’s Anglican Church in Brussels over the weekend.
